Here is a link to another interview with him back in March at BMEzine.

The tattoos are really impressive, the person that adorns them...not so much.

3D photos of centuries old anatomical models

May 9, 2008 9:59pm

I just realized that the new League of Extraordinary Gentlemen has red/green glasses at the end. It gives a 3d effect with a bit of a skew to these images, the effect is still there it's just a bit trippy. Kind of makes you dizzy, in a way that makes it hard to read books at long stretches of time. Great collection of stereophotography all around, going to look for my red blue specs tomorrow.

@ "TENN", heh I happen to be watching Silence of the Lambs. Just finished Hannibal. I love this series.

Happy 107th birthday to my grandmother!

April 11, 2008 10:17pm

Wow! Congrats to your Grandma & a happy birthday! I hope she is healthy and enjoying life.
Get the kids to see her as much as they can. I have great memories of my gran/grandad & great gran on my moms side.

My great gran passed in her '90's when I was in 4th grade I think? She was great. I was young but I remember going to Chicago with my folks to see her and she always had a box of dehydrated milk for us. She was awesome. She wore this big giant jewelry, the looked silly to me, but she liked to look glam. Grandparents on my moms side passed a couple of years later, withing a year of each other as I recall. PopPop was retired from the Navy/insurance/Coast Guard. He taught me to pilot his boat, the Kathy Anne, on lake Michigan. There are some great stories I share with friends about him. Gran / MomMom was equally great. They both introduced me to the Fidler on the Roof, Big Band Swing music, Jazz,(smoking) & the water. I'm a fish in water thanks to them and my mom. I can also give thanks to the entire bloodline for a Lego addiction.

Man I miss them!

Thanks Mark, I'm smiling now going over memories.

(damn it, there goes a tear!)

Home Depot customer detained by DC police for not showing receipt

February 27, 2008 8:04pm

I keep reading about these incidents and always say to myself that I would totally stand up to the "man" :/ if it ever came to be. Truth is, I go to two local Best Buy stores somewhat frequently and have never been asked to show a receipt, same with Home Depot (this is actually the first time I've heard of Home Depot doing this.) The only shop thats ever asked me has been Fry's, and honestly, at least at my local Fry's all they do is look at the receipt and slash it with a pink highlighter, never even look in the bag. I find this rather lame & somewhat of a funny tradition of going there. This is a shop that sells deodorant next to the candy near the checkout, just sayin'. I only hit them about twice a year due to the distance and the unfortunately as of recent, sub-par stock that I am interested in. I have more to say, but this is not my soapbox. Carry on.

Are Hunter S. Thompson Converse sneakers on the way?

February 27, 2008 7:49pm

Sellout? bah!
gimmie a pair or 12. I think it's a great idea. Keep us posted if/when they go on sale? I just hope Chuck Corp doesn't mark them up too much.

Tomy Heli-Q Mini R/C Helicopter

February 12, 2008 10:32pm

Update.

I got impatient and tried the heli just now. HAHA, the superglue only made things worse and lasted about a minute. These cheap mini knock offs are crap. I'm down to one rotor blade, the cat still loves to chase it's flailing corpse of a machine. Now waiting to get my Picco.

Also wondering how I can mod the busted one to make it still fly or do something a bit more interesting.

Tomy Heli-Q Mini R/C Helicopter

February 12, 2008 10:09pm

I just got one of these non Picco Z heli's, only because my Fry's Outpost does not carry the Picco model, for $25.00. They are fun (for tormenting the cat), but I busted the rotor within 10 minutes upon impacting my floor. I super glued the bit back on and will be testing it tomorrow. Thus far, the rotor spins well but I don't know how much the weight of the glue will interfere with the flight. I think I am going to get a Picco as well, because they seem to be built to handle crashes a bit better.

I'm torn between this and "Compubeaver" for my favorite BBTV webisode.

Where can one get mannequin's these days? They are hard to come by in my area.

Baby's First Mythos: Cthluhoid picture book

December 13, 2007 9:55pm

Ohhh the ways in which I want to buy this! I have a 3 year old Nephew & a 3 month old Niece, my sister would kill me if I gave this as a gift (she is a bit more straight laced than most BB readers). I think I may buy it either way, maybe just drop it in the kids room one day anonymously.

No I'm not trying to corrupt the kids, just want to give them some alt culture as they grow. I've got giraffes, giraffes and Your Disgusting Head on the shelves already for when they are old enough i.e. are reading independently. I want to be the uncle that I have, the one that I hang with and influenced my life in a really good way.

Did I get to personal there?

Neil Gaiman helps fan propose to girlfriend through book inscription

December 12, 2007 10:06pm

I've never had the pleasure to meet the man, but Neil has got to be one of the most fan friendly author stars of our age. I read his journal allot and he is just, well, cuddly. His works always deliver and he is empathic to the fans. A true gent.

Congrats to the engaged, and tilt my hat to you sir Gaiman. I feel lucky to live in the time of your writings.

Really? Well, it was still good, parody or not. Thank you for reminding me that the internet is still the internet. Therefor we should watch what we over think.

Film review: 2 Girls One Cup

November 28, 2007 10:24pm

@ Rick,

Thank you for being one who can take the approach of student/teacher to this matter. I did some digging and have realized that I do not need to watch the video. Through various screen caps & descriptions, I can visualize the content. I am not disturbed or grossed out by the acts because they happen, I simply have no need to view them. I like that you inquire "What is going on out in the wilds of the human habitat? How common are these practices? Are they real? How long have they been going on?"

I am going to do my best to interpret the grade.

1. "Explain More":: What needs to be explained is what is this futuristic association? What is this date? Is it 1209? Is this a statement of how the world will be in 1209? Is it political? Is the film maker just being a smart ass? Who the hell knows! I'll call up Warhol and Genesis, lets ask them. After that statement the rest of the message is confusing to me.

2. WHAT? O.K., This requires that I watch it, but I'm not going to. For this statement, I'll give the author the benefit of the doubt.

3. I'm writing this as I read the essay. I have no further interpretations of the film. However, I do think that the student should not have received a 0%. The student has viewed and attempted, rather studiously, to interpret the potential meaning for the picture. Weather or not it was created as a joke, pornography, art, or other, only the creators and friends will know. For an outside witness to attempt to find reason and meaning in it, I think speaks volumes for his/her mind and ability to approach this world without prejudice, but an idea of learning rather than judging or being susceptible to shock.

OK. So this post was not nearly as analytical as I had planned, all I can say is this. I get it, it's a shocking vid (maybe) that I don't want/need to see. As I have already stated it is also one that I have no right to judge even though it is one I may not understand. Someone wrote an analysis on it and got a sh!t grade for some silly reason. If you watch the vid, keep an open mind, while unlikely, this may be the reality of the humans involved.

Sleep tight.
