How am I dishonest Takuan? I just reread my other posts and fail to see any dishonesty in my tone, remarks, or facts presented.

Thanks for the so long though.

Can a moderator just delete my initial comment and actually now that I think about it my account here too? Boingboing used to be a place I enjoyed coming to. As for those who "know" Microsoft is evil because you work tech support, I'm a network engineer that works on Apple, Microsoft & Linux based servers all day, every flavor of OS has it's problems and it's successes. Users will always stress out no matter the cause or application. Blaming the company doesn't mean they're *always* at fault.

All in all I enjoyed being a regular boingboing reader the past 4 years and I'll miss it somewhat. wll nt mss th hypcrtcl bhvr f Cry dstrtng fct t st hs wn bsd whms.

Lately it seems that most companies (except those with direct white house connections) have been trying to do the right thing. Yes Microsoft has been terrible in the past but has been trying harder lately. Microsoft gives millions to teachers and schools every year. How is this a bad thing? oh noes! They've donated equipment to a library!

Smell of pot smoke not grounds for arrest and search in Canada

February 13, 2008 11:34am

I'm so used to the Canadian varieties where I live I don't even think about the rest of it (yeah I'm a "pothead" network engineer. Beats drinking alcohol any day). I also suppose it's due to every cannabis user I know referring to bad quality, cheap crappy pot as "mexi".

On a totally other topic, if maximum security prisons have drug problems, and a lot of our drugs come via Mexico, why do we even waste so much money on the DEA. Silly me for thinking education is a logical alternative to incarceration.

#12 Welcome to the slippery slope. I saw you smoking a cigarette and then eating 2 candybars. Obviously you've got the munchies and now I can search you yes?

While I don't always agree with the way defense attorneys get clients off the hook, when they make use decent logic like this I can get behind it and support it. Now if only they truly were altruistic people and fought the good fight to eliminate stupid laws altogether.

On the flip side I'm curious to know how long it will take for our government to try and paint Canada as an evil country for this. I was watching the pilot episode of "The A-team" last night (yeah I have issues lol) and the plot revolved around marijuana crops and their inherent evils. While watching I kept thinking about how much things have changed since the 1980's since most of the US marijuana crops actually originate in Canada now.

When will Stephen Harper be portrayed as the new millenium's Noriega?

Also when will Cory hop in here and give us another distorted taste of his antimarijuana viewpoints ala the "stoner pisses on dying woman" post?

Dalek-Human hybrid fright mask

I agree with Samurai Gratz & KrisJohn. The new series and the 10th doctor are hands down my favorites of all time (started as a Who fan waaaay back in the Tom Baker years) but the Dalek's in Manhattan episodes sucked. The voice acting (accents kept coming and going) was terrible, the plot was weak and it just wasn't especially good.

Now if someone releases a full Dalek costume I'm all about it. Tooling down the road while screaming "EXTERMINATE" seems far more fun then being a one eyed tentacle monster.

Free poster with a dozen famous conservatives

Wow, I went and browsed the site and discovered the 9/11 "never forget" poster.

The description REALLY underscores how out to lunch this organization is.

"Never forget. Show your support for the War on Terror".

Warning: large picture of Ann Coulter also on that page

I actually mentioned that their are many different viewpoints, I just take issue with the "omg pot is evil!!!!" tone being replaced a few days later by "omg cool pipe!!!". It's inconsistent and I expect better of this site. I also expected better of Cory (who never even took the time to respond to the criticism of calling a drunk a stoner). As a columnist and author he definitely knows better.

As for the bong.. it's not a bong it's a pipe.

So wait? This post is saying that Pot is cool yet Cory just the other day made sure to point out that a drunk idiot was a stoner (rather inflammatorily so no less). Can we at least get a smidgen of consistency here?
It seems obvious that boingboing is a fair use, copyleft, liberal fight for your rights and the government sucks sort of blog. Except for pot. Or any other relatively harmless thing that goes against Cory's belief system (the rest of you tend to stay fairly unbiased).

So is Pot cool to boingers now or??

Capitol police attack, break leg of anti-war minister (video)

mattymatt:

If only freedom of speech applied to everyone equally (especially at government events) then I agree putting the button on later would have made more sense.

By your tone and that of many others in this discussion it's a wonder the US isn't still a colony of Great Britain. Sometimes the point is to get noticed and "be made an example of" if only to wake the folks asleep at the wheel and to affect change. So even if it was stages the reaction by the police is still beyond a reasonable amount of force.
meh. Now I'm just sounding preachy.

Wastelands, an anthology of apocalyptic fiction -- free previews!

August 29, 2007 9:35am

Fantastic! I've always loved anthologies especially since work and family duties never seem to leave me enough time to read full length books anymore.
It's great to see Cory have a story in this as well. Especially "When Sysadmins Ruled the Earth" since I've been wanting to read it in print for awhile now.

Great design on the Wastelands site as well although it did cause me a bit of confusion on my iPhone at first (hadn't ever had to scroll using 2 fingers before).

Any chance at finding autographed copies here or on craphound when the book goes on sale?

No friends yet.
