Fasting may prevent jetlag

May 26, 2008 11:06am

Hmmm. After fasting for 16 hours prior to travel are you "allowed" to eat while you travel? Or do you have to fast 16 hours prior to travel and continue to fast while you travel (so you fast for 24+ hours)?

When I went to Paris, I did not sleep on the flight over. Got there in the AM and was quite tired, ran around Paris for several hours, then took a 4-hour afternoon nap. Felt great the rest of the week. However, coming home I couldn't sleep (can't sleep for long periods in airline seats) and after traveling for something like 24 hours, was exhausted getting back to Denver. A week later I'm still feeling the effects of jetlag (more tired that usual, brain not wanting to function all that well).

Make a mousetrap powered toy car

I don't get it. A mouse would have to be really really (really) slow to get run over by this thing. It should obviously be fitted with mouse-seeking missles to achieve the goal of total mouse domination.

Ultra detailed Al Jaffee art for Humbug

That's awesome and perfectly illustrates (pun semi-intended) why Christmas is the Vegas of holidays, baby! Without the crass decadence and commercialism, Christmas just wouldn't be nearly as cool. All that religious crap just gets in the way.

And, no, I'm not joking. Now where's my Bing Christmas album?

Urwerk makes a kickass twin turbine self-winding watch that's just incredible to look at, a geek must-have, but forget that it also needs to tell the time.

McCain and conspiracy theorists agree that Washington is Satanic

If you take into account the curvature of the Earth and the event horizon of a political convention, then it's a perfect pentagram.

Though the two separate images (the triangle and the arrow) do seem to be pretty symmetrical with themselves (i.e., the triangle is symmetrical and the arrow pointing "down" is also symmetrical).

Weird photoshop blunders

Yeah, it's a cool idea for a blog, though it's a bit vague at times, making me wonder just what they're trying to point out. However, the first time looking at the blog I found myself three or four pages deep before I realized it.

Elephant paints an elephant

March 29, 2008 9:07am

Wow. Looks real to me. The way his/her trunk "floats" about the painting as s/he tries to put the brush right where s/he wants it. Too cool. And that s/he can so exactly trace over lines s/he already painted. Just ... wow.
