SMS data rate is 4x more expensive than data from the Hubble

I always prefer to call, only resorting to text messages when I know that the receiver is busy or cannot answer the phone. The fare on those sms are simply unbelievable.

It is nor fair to bill one passenger with the footprint of the entire flight. If you calculate it this way, the footprint of a car travel would much less then taking a bus or a train. You must divide the result by the number of passengers in the same plane.

Jesus hit by lightning

This picture was in the cover of a major newspaper here in Rio de Janeiro, "O Globo", the after we had a major electric storm, no rain in my neighborhood unfortunately since rain usually gets the temperature down a bit ':-/.

The Christ statue is also the highest point in the city, so I would bet it does get hit a lot, but usually when no one is aiming the camera to it.

Southern racists adopt "Canadian" as a euphemism for "black"

About racism and the use of the "N" word, here in Brazil the "African Brazilians" took another approach to the whole thing, instead of forbidding people from use the "bad terms" they adopted the term and started to use it them selves. Instead of saying the Portuguese "N" word, Negro, is a bad word they turned the other way and took proud on using it themselves. It was common to see T-Shirts who said "100% negro", for instance. This seem much more sane than trying to stop everyone to use a word.

About tips, I aways thought that we should tip good service. I don't know how it works in the USA, but here in Brazil all restaurants charge 10% over the bill, and many times this "TIP" does not even goes to the waiter, but end up in the owner pocket. I don't like to tip in this conditions, it is just a price makeup scheme, and they say you must pay even when you're treaded like shit and waited for hours to be served. I believe that a tip should go to the waiter pocket, but only when you're served well.

"Why Beautiful People Have More Daughters" interview

One example of this is that when we watch a scary movie, we get scared, and when we watch porn we get turned on. We cry when someone dies in a movie. Our brain cannot tell the difference between what’s simulated and what’s real, because this distinction didn’t exist in the Stone Age.

Well in the stone age people still told stories around the fire and the people hearing those would get emotional about them. Just like we do when we read a book, watch a movie, even if we know that it is only an story that has never happened.

This is actually good, since if we "live" a story, it has a larger influence in what we'll do next. For instance if we were a stone age hunter tribe and we were around the fire, if I were to tell you never get near a tiger you would listen and forget in about two seconds. But if I told you a long tale on how a sacred tiger lead a good hunter to his death while he was trying to meet the daughter of the sun, moon, who now wonders after the gallant hunter illuminating the night so other hunter would fall under the trap of the evil tiger. Now this would be much more effective.

I hate Hate speech, I hate people who think that being different from oneself is reason enough to be beaten. I hate racism, fanatical religious movements (that segregate homosexuals or even other fanatical religious movements), I hate all of them.

Every on that thinks that anyone should be killed because by a matter of believe, lifestyle or simply genetics should be killed.

Does this means that I should commit suicide? Perhaps, or perhaps I am only being sarcastic and I don't really mean all that I written. You be the judge... By the way, keep the policy, don't link to hate speech.
