Astronomical calculations on World of Warcraft
July 1, 2008 7:22am
This seems like a waste of brainpower. Furthermore, these morons are using conventional logic to determine their "ingenious measurements and calculations." They seem to fail to realize that WoW is a DIGITAL (meaning the developers can rewrite any "law" that they want) world spread across a multiverse of servers and players computers. Calling it flat is simple minded. As a visual presence (what you see) it is most definitely flat (just ask the level designer), but the world is not a continuous plane.
I'm not saying wow is too great (i hardly think WoW is anything near great) to be flat, I just think that anyone who takes the time to think about it like that is probably an idiot...
Interview with editors of Architecture of Change

i wish i had 52 bucks to blow on that book....it looks interesting....and if architectural techinques such as the conducting passive energy via intelegently placed windows were used more, it would definately help reduce energy consumption and strive a more attainable sustainability. taking the house at face value is closed minded...its the ideas that matter...

or you could always just try and find someone who has access to a laser cutter. But I went to art school and can always use the one there...so i guess its easier for me =P
I started laser cutting moleskines once i saw that first BB post about it. I've got some with the art of Brian Froud, some with Celtic Trees of Life, and of course a bunch with my own designs on them. Laser cutting is FUN!

3D printed Cinderella's Castle from Disney
April 30, 2008 5:51am
depends on what type of printer you use, but here's the basic concept for the simpler ones. if you lay a stack of papers on top of each other 1 by one with a layer of glue in between each piece, you'd have a brick. If you cut a circle in each paper before gluing it down you'd eventually end up with a brick with a hole in it, and a cylinder. complex models can be formed by stacking thousands of it's cross sections on top of one another (in the totally oldschool way of making huge wooden sculptures). Each printer varies in its material and technique. The printer I use the most uses a powdered resin with a hardening solution. It's fairly weak but you coat it in superglue afterwards =). Hope that helps
