Horny goat weed as Viagra alternative

They've sold it in mainstream supermarkets here for years, and even have a "Horny Goats Weed for Her" version as well :)
Rockbox 3.0: turn your old iPod into new h4wtness with free/open software
September 26, 2008 2:04am
Yeah, I want a replacement for my 20gb Creative - getting a bit full - and the only decent size mp3 players are Apple (at least in Australia). I don't really want to install Itunes on my PC & I heard there were quite a few problems with their 180gb models...it's a shame Iriver & Creative have ceded the large capacity player market to Apple (and I suppose they're not in huge demand, judging by the huge amount of 1-4gb players you can pick up)

Once again Cory's free ebook theory works!
iPod briefing: a few quick snaps, a few new apps.
September 10, 2008 11:22pm
It's a shame they've dropped the high capacity ipods from their range. I have a Creative Zen which is full, and there doesn't seem to be any large capacity mp3 players on the market right now.
It's scary that I actually thought that the new 120gb Zune sounds okay ;)
Alaska job fair uses Cory Doctorow/XKCD cosplayer for ads?

And so we see the first of Cory's sleeper army...waiting for his signal to rise up and spread Creative Commons around the globe :)
Who scrubbed Wikipedia's entry for Sarah Palin just before nom announcement?
August 31, 2008 6:52pm
@#65: I would say because you've got someone who would potentially be the 2nd most powerful person in the USA who has, whatever the motives, attempted deceit on a large scale, as well as using the birth as a means to justify her anti-abortion stance. I don't actually care if she did or not, but that is almost certainly how she would be portrayed if it turned out to be true.
Seeing as I'm not American, whether she did cover up for her daughter's pregancy or not doesn't matter to me, but I do like conspiracies :) as I said, if it's true, then a lying governer (not mentioning Troopergate as I've recently found out about) wouldn't do McCain any favours. If it's not, then it's gone, but traditional news outlets demonstrating this would end it more than bloggers complaining to each other.
Who scrubbed Wikipedia's entry for Sarah Palin just before nom announcement?
August 31, 2008 4:35pm
I would love to see the old media investigate the allegations of her daughter being the real mother of her son. If it's not true, then it can be put to rest. If it is true, it is a big deal. There is a lot of circumstantial evidence, but it's growing to be a BFD online.
Make-believe police in UK have power to issue on-the-spot fines

Good-o to the Shadow Home Secretary for declaiming the surveillance culture, but I would be very surprised indeed if the Conservatives rolled back any of these things when they're next in government.

# 14 Betatron
"they could have used her in a much more active and destructive capacity"
Bad argument. Saying how it's good that she didn't do worse doesn't make what she did any good. People who befriend others to betray them don't deserve sympathy, even if your agendas are the same.
ComicCon's best Star Wars costumes

According to Cracked.com (not the best of sources, I agree) it seems that the one Darth Vader is actually David Prowse. If that is the case, then yes, I wouldn't want to try to upstage him.

I agree with Mitchschaft, it would be a better strike for freedom if they actually showed the videos in question (get the Pirate Bay to do the hosting ;)
Homophobic politician sends self-published comic book to voters
July 17, 2008 5:03pm
Ugh. The number of misspellings in that comic alone should be barrier to him being reelected.
Maybe he's just a creative guy trying to see how many ways to spell 'paedophile'. Quite the Shakespearian...
Clive Thompson on scary video games
June 25, 2008 4:54pm
Agree with #2 - while Doom 3 was nowhere near as fun as the original two games, playing it in the dark with the speakers turned up is...harrowing. Yes, you know things are going to jump out at you, but only being able to hold your torch or your gun at one time just keeps you nervously agitated...and then a demon or zombie comes out of nowhere. (Probably why they didn't let you strap the torch onto the gun.)

In regards to those going on about foreskins being a reservoir for disease etc - google 'showers'. Unless you're Pigpen, it shouldn't be an issue.
Personally, my view is go with whatever you want. I don't like the custom of circumcising babies though...if we wouldn't tattoo them, then doing something else that is irreversible to someone who obviously cannot provide informed consent doesn't sit right with me. YMMV.

Chunk of Stonehenge stolen
May 27, 2008 4:25pm
See, this is why we need people like Sergeant Colon to guard large monuments - no one ever stole a building on his watch, so Stonehenge would have been a doddle.

Napster goes DRM-free MP3
May 20, 2008 5:31pm
Nothing in Australia, as usual. I went to Amazon a while back to buy some DRM-free mp3s of an obscure band and found they wouldn't sell to me. It's almost like they want me to go to TPB...
Universal Music: when we get hit with copyright damages, that's "unconstitutionally excessive"

So if they can get away with pleading excessiveness, does that set a precedent for Jammie Thomas to use in her appeal?

@Phikus #23: A nitpick, but when Getting Better was released, John was still with Cynthia (although he had met Yoko prior to then). I've also heard vague things about 'beating' Julian, although usually in less violent terms.
Also, the disemvowelling seems to increasingly be a way for mods to mark down opinions they don't like rather than mark down trolls or flamers. Just my opinion, YMMV.
