The reality of depending on "1000 True Fans"
April 23, 2008 8:23am
Starcadia brings up the point that stood out, for its absence, in the article. Some fans are lost and some are gained. I don't really see that as a catch-22. Grow and change as an artist, following your own inspiration, it isn't like you are suddenly going to just flat out suck.
Creepily lifelike CGI woman
March 30, 2008 11:07am
Not so sure this is quite cgi as in a rendered mesh with textures. She looks like layered and morphed pieces of photos stacked together.
Comparing food products with their package photos

What stood out for me was the 3 panel format which read a lot like a depressing comic strip with a two panel set up and a one panel anti-punchline at the end.
They feel a little like real world Perry Bible Fellowship strips.
Scotland Yard wants DNA samples from 5-year-olds in case they grow up to be criminals; Oyster card records to become part of "war on terror"

This looks like a "Meiers Gambit". Suggest something so outrageous that people will fall in line for any less chilling alternative.
$31 million worth of lost valuables on the TSA's watch

Threatening notes in your luggage for inspectors is some sort of crime, I think. And a Goatse poster is definitely threatening.
Family busts "mailbox baseball" team after high-speed chase
February 29, 2008 5:41am
You can't see it but I am rolling my eyes. Take a effin picture guys. High speed chases can end in far worse than a smashed mailbox. If you can't get a clear picture of the perps and a plate number, then try again.
Ashley Wood's "Bertie" Robot Sculpture
August 31, 2007 5:58pm
It has always been a fantasy of mine to have something I made show up on Boingboing! This is the figure of Ashley Wood's Bertie that Bigshot Toyworks is producing.
Ashley has a lot of info about the project on his site, in the posted link, and we have some more info on ours at www.bigshottoyworks.com

Once, as a lad, I realized that time spent watching television could be measured in hours per viewer per day, and with a little more math, that amount could be translated to human lifetimes in wasted hours.
That 200 billion hours per year computes to 526,315 lifetimes worth of waking time, unless there was some error in my math.
