Skyscraper airport of tomorrow, 1939

And who was going to live and work inside the vast windowless interior of that monolith?
Girl gets revolutionary note in package instead of iPod
December 31, 2007 9:53am
Wow. Not only is the iPod labeled "disruptive technology" it also has become the prime symbol of the "American Consumption-ist Society" It has become what the Twinky was in the 70s.
RIP: Netscape Navigator (1994-2008)
December 29, 2007 10:00am
This brings back memories of my first time on a high speed connection, and the whole dot-bomb era. Killed by The Clueless Masses firing up IE, never knowing they weren't getting the "real" web experience. Feels like remembering an old favorite car model that long ago bit the dust.
Benazir Bhutto assassinated
December 27, 2007 8:51am
"This just goes to show the kind of barbarianism we are dealing with over there."
So, when Americans were assassinating progressive political leaders here in the 60s, we had a 'barbaric' society?
Unusual old Japanese model kits

"Leave our forest Monkey. The next time I see you bowling on our sacred grounds, I will eat you."
US official threatens employees with magic
December 14, 2007 11:27am
Isn't it wonderful how the Iraq spending windfall has attracted such a diverse and talented group of Americans. Colorful characters and scandals, sort of like one of the Gold Rush cities.
Organization for Transformative Works: defend fandom!
December 12, 2007 9:59pm
"Boo, we have lawyers and don't approve of your fan project anymore. Make it go away or we will continue to threaten you with slow torture by the legal system"
That summarizes the letter that ended a 3 year not-for-profit fan project I was part of. We were "foxed" as they say in gaming.
It felt like being punished for loving something too much.
Taxpayers pay for gold mining cleanup
December 11, 2007 11:14am
I'm wondering these mining companies are deliberately organized under foreign ownership, just to make it easier to duck and cover with the profits when the Superfund cleanup lawsuit comes around.
How about a federal cleanup tax on everything sold with gold inside? iPods? that would wake up some folks
Steve Jobs (and not Woz) to come to Epcot's Spaceship Earth
December 2, 2007 9:41am
This is really an example of "History is written by the victor"
Two Girls 1 Cup: a grandmother reacts.
November 30, 2007 9:22am
I just about vomited reading the text description.
Disclaimer: In the past I was shown another unspeakable video from Germany, so it may be a psychosomatic revulsion reaction.
Old racist cap gun on eBay
October 26, 2007 8:30am
Based on the current climate for immigrants, I expect the surface gold is running low again. If the restrictions on Asian immigration had never been put in place, the West coast would really be a different place, more like the demographics of Hawaii I would guess.
Chinese luxury market -- all smoke and mirrors?
October 23, 2007 9:25am
It just a shame anybody desires these Euro-trash luxury items from a rotting culture. China, of all places, with thousands of years of their own innovations in art and design, would benefit greatly by dumping the West and looking to the future instead.
Chinese luxury market -- all smoke and mirrors?
October 23, 2007 6:44am
The people of China could grow a counterculture that rejects class and materialism, and all these seedy Western luxury goods. But that might get them thrown in prison camps as subversives, besides being so yesterday/communist.
Shipping containers as housing
October 13, 2007 7:01am
The image reminds me of the place they house thousands of exiled robots in the I,Robot movie.
Would FEMA be interested in converting containers to emergency shelter for people displaced by disaters?
Crashed drug plane owned by US Government?
October 9, 2007 5:10pm
So could this could be?
A: Charter plane which usually runs drugs got some legitimate charter business flying folks to Guantanamo.
B: Somebody in Washington needed more of-budget funds to sell aircraft parts to Iran. (something like that.)
Lowrider Magazine #1 from 1977 -- complete scan
October 9, 2007 2:24pm
Wow it's amazing how so little has changed. The girls all wearing those trench coats, I never understood.
Tonka-esque truck-cutlery
October 9, 2007 2:14pm
My son was suspicious of the Bulldozer too, and asked me what that was for. He wasn't ready to imagine playing with his food. Funny, that never bothered him before.
Orangutan aroused by blonde and tattooed women
October 5, 2007 10:27am
like males everywhere, he likes the ones who look like Mom.
Nail assist: concept gadget to keep you from hammering your fingers
October 3, 2007 6:37am
Using this would be tediously slow for a pro, but that's not who this is aimed at anyway. This is more like the OXO good grip for hammer and nails.
Tools like the nail set, which help avoid hitting the surface, take repeated poundings for years and survive. It all depends on the choice of material.
Nike's American Indian sneaker
September 26, 2007 12:13pm
Sounds like my feet would be comfy in those. I've been wearing nothing but sandals for a year now, and whenever I put on closed shoes my feet start to go numb and cramp up.
TSA: war on coffee successful, boxcutters not so much
September 18, 2007 4:26pm
The TSA came down hard on Nathaniel T. Heatwole, who brought boxcutters on a flight and documented how he did it. He may have good intentions, but the TSA doesn't like the bad press.
Notepad toaster burns handwritten messages into bread
September 8, 2007 4:49pm
Now, I have worked as a product designer, and have to admit to considering these types of ideas.
I'm not sure I want to add digital tech into my food consumption anymore, or line it up next to all the juicers, bread makers, sandwich presses, steamers, pasta mills... kitchen must grow.
Gadgets, I know, are the pr0n that offends none.
Might be handy to print GREENLAND IS MELTING on my toast every morning.
Welcome to the new Boing Boing!
August 28, 2007 1:43pm
I miss the funky bar of links on the left. Well, in with the new. I've been a reader for a while, so I'll try not to abuse comments, nothing more humbling than being banned by people you like.

Satirical songs don't bother lawyers hardly at all. What ya need is some good old tar and feathers.
