Ahhh, that brings back memories. When I was a kid I had a tee shirt of that first image. One of my favorite memories was coming out of "Journey Into Imagination" and playing with my sister and friends in the jumping-water fountain outside, getting soaked and having all the black dye from that tee shirt run all over our arms and legs.
Parents weren't too fond of that, but I thought it was a hoot.

Oh damn, I used to do GEnie in '93 and '94 too but I didn't really hang out in the comics area. I was with the Disney World geeks back then.
Oh man, good times. Good times on my old LC3 in grade 8.

This show is ALL new material. I believe there are some new sketches featuring old characters, but all the sketches are newly written for this show, in the spirit of their formative days performing at the Rivoli in Toronto when they would write a new show every week.
I can't wait. I am drooling with excitement.

Home movie of an automat
February 25, 2008 6:29am
My dad, the most curmudgeonly old science fiction nerd on the planet, says: The time of history you are living in today has not replaced the old Horn & Hardart automats with better food unless you go to a restaurant. Fast food places have lowered the quality of food and forced the old automats out of business but have failed to offer the public better food for their money. Sometimes the future is not as good as the past.
He's old. :D

"This password must be given if you are ever asked by a fellow member, "Are you a Turtle?" You MUST then reply "You bet your sweet ass I am." If you do not give the password in full because of embarassment or some other reason, you forfeit a beverage of his choice. So always remember the password. "
This blew my mind. This was an inside joke between me and my mom, something she told me once when we were visiting the Air & Space Museum in Washington DC. We were looking at astronaut stuff and she told me that astronauts always ask eachother this question, but that I shouldn't tell my sister because the answer was too "grown-up". So it was a secret joke between she and I for years.
I had no idea it was based on a secret society. I'm kind of blown away right now.

@207 - RIGHT ON! My parents gave me an unusual one 28 years ago and it's done me very, very well. Poesy's name's gonna be one of the great gifts she gets!
Now, remember, start her on Disney parks early, but she won't remember anything until age 3 or so, so make sure THAT trip is *really* special. And don't neglect the East Coast; Epcot at age 3 is one of my favorite memories.

Holy crap! I've traveled with a poster tube, too. I'm a middle-aged caucasian woman, though. I also discovered after the last time I flew that I had forgotten and left one of those metal nail files in my purse. TSA didn't even bat an eye. It seems like there's no consistency, or sanity, involved in this system.
Heh. I flew from NYC to Atlanta, from Atlanta to Miami, and the same way back, with pepper spray in my purse. (I had forgotten it was there.) Not a peep from the TSA.
But I was stopped once for carrying a latch hook that I used to weave in the ends of my knitting. Go figure.
Tokyo Disneyland's Haunted Mansion themed Hallowe'en parade
October 31, 2007 7:42am
I just came back from WDW's "Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party" and their parade is pretty great. (Pictures here.)
I was very, very impressed by the Haunted Mansion section especially. The groundskeeper from the graveyard scene (complete with a real live dog parading down Main Street was my favorite - unfortunately my best picture of them didn't come out so great.)
