Garmin Forerunner 405 GPS Watch Small Enough to Be Worn All Day
January 4, 2008 4:55pm
What is holding them back is the fact that you need a big enough screen to be able to read a map and your location on it in order to be able to navigate at all. Receiving GPS signals is easy and cheap batterywise too.
I have a 205 for MTB trail riding and I'm super happy with it. The 405 screen looks way too small to be useful for that. It's just made small for a different purpose.
But yeah, I wouldn't mind a *thinner* version of the 205/305 (but a touch screen is completely ridiculous in the woods :-)
Crank Brothers Multi-19 Bike Tool
December 17, 2007 10:03pm
PS: Crank Bros. makes mountainbike components. Mountainbikes these days all use threadless aheadsets, so there is no need for a headset wrench. (If your headset becomes loose for some reason - which is unlikely - just use standard allen keys to tighten the preload cap and stem bolts.)
I have the Crank Bros. multitool in my hydration pack, and it's excellent. Mine didn't come with that flask, but it would be slightly ridiculous on the trails anyway... (the rubber band thingy works great, and it doesn't snag).

If you're moving a lot of data over long distances (say 10 meters), cheap cables may begin to show noticeable problems in some cases. Short distances are pretty safe with any cable, but personally I like to buy reasonable quality cables (like low-end Monsters) to at least get a well built cable that will still work after a decade or three. (I have thrown away lots of cheap 20 year old cables that just self-destructed :-)
