Ballet dancers perform to the Pixies

May 9, 2008 7:40pm

So, has no one noticed how appropriate this is, given Surfer Rosa's cover art? I think Frank Black would be smiling ear-to-ear at this.

Animation: Syd Garon and DJ Qbert, and Jon Burgerman's "Magic Ink"

Looks like Clint Howard... IN SPACE!

Isabella Rossellini's bug porno videos now online

May 6, 2008 4:57pm

Well, I sure didn't see the end of the fly video coming. O_O

I must say, I have new respect for male flies and praying mantises.

Grand Theft Are You Fcking Kidding Me

April 30, 2008 7:33pm

I don't necessarily think some of GTA's content is appropriate, generally speaking, but I'll certainly defend their right to make it and sell it. People need to respect games just as they respect movies. Movies like Pulp Fiction and The Departed are clearly not intended for children, and neither is this game. Period. Do your jobs, parents. Don't let the government do your work for you.

But is the game sexist? Well, yeah, pretty much. This series constantly takes shots at all kinds of things, from sex to religion to race to government. It's called "satire." And also "lulz," I believe.

Incidentally, I wish I had a console this game was on. It looks fantastic. I love realistic, open-world, do-what-you-want games.

7-year-old boy removed from father and placed in state custody over mistaken order of hard lemondade

April 30, 2008 1:37pm

Why does it seem like law enforcers in this country are becoming more and more stupid everyday? Honestly, it's like they tell them in training, "Be an idiot and a douchebag whenever possible." I respect cops and guards that aren't idiots, but these? Ugh.

Leslie Hall: Dear Diary

April 29, 2008 1:33pm

@#4
Well, is it okay if I love her in a sexual way?

I don't quite entirely buy her shtick, but I can appreciate it and there's something really likable about her. Bedazzle me, Leslie. Bedazzle me.

Social worker befriends mugger

March 28, 2008 1:06pm

@9
I'm pretty sure that assumption is way off. I'm a Christian and, of all the dozens and dozens of Christians that I've known personally, I can't think of a single one that wouldn't love this. In fact, I think you'd find the vast majority of modern Christians would love this.

The ones you're thinking of would probably be ultra-right wing, stick-in-the-mud old farts living in the Bible Belt. Contrary to popular belief, they're more in the minority than you might think. They're just the ones you actually hear about most often. We think they're crazy too. ;)

Either way, this guy is a great example of Christ-like behavior. "Give him your tunic," indeed.

200 students and other teens celebrate end of school term with outdoor orgy

March 27, 2008 4:52pm

You know, I get the feeling that this is one of those ideas that's a whole lot more pleasant in theory, than in actual reality. "Let's get together and have a huge, drunken orgy in public!" They never seem to factor in the STDs, pregnancies, and blood loss.

ETech: BoingBonic Convergence

Looks like a bunch of dirty hippies. Cut your hair, hippies!

...Oh. Sorry, David.

Fawlty Towers radical chic

That is the greatest thing I've seen since the last greatest thing I've seen. Do want.

Li'l J: hit me up on my mufuggin MySpace.

My life is really bleak and depressing right now, and yet this video makes it seem like everything's going to be all right.

God forbid that someone in government have religious beliefs.

Police ordered to pull over people doing nothing wrong

December 18, 2007 11:55am

Know what would enhance goodwill between the traffic unit and me? Not pulling me the hell over.

You'd think that would be bloody fucking obvious.

How the AP busted Comcast for blocking BitTorrent

October 20, 2007 10:48am

Isn't the BitTorrent "revelation" old, though? It's been known that they've been interfering with BitTorrent transfers for at least a month or two, I'm pretty sure. I thought the P2P interference was the revelation. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Radiohead downloads were just a tactic to boost CD sales?

October 19, 2007 9:06pm

I don't see how this is a bad thing. I think it's an excellent way of getting music out there. I know that I wouldn't know half of the bands I listen to now, if I hadn't first downloaded them. The labels would do well to listen, regardless of their motivation.

Van Halen: recorded Jump goof at concert

October 19, 2007 11:09am

Perhaps it wouldn't have seemed quite like such a trainwreck if Roth hadn't decided to ride a massive inflatable microphone around the audience like a horsey.

Boing Boing tv: same old BB, but with talkies.

October 3, 2007 5:58pm

Xeni, you rock! Seriously, you were made for this glorious sort of audio-visual nonsense. Very well done.

Mark was okay too, but you can tell he's at his best with a pen and/or a keyboard. :)

Radiohead lets fans pick price for new album

September 30, 2007 11:03pm

Xeni, if you'll pardon my immaturity, I do believe I just pooped mah pants. I, too, share your love of all things Radiohead. This news has me so giddy! If any band can blaze the trail to the anti-RIAA musical promised land, they can. I hope this turns out incredibly well for them - and, thus, for us too.

@Syncrotic
Radiohead does not like DRM. I think it's safe to say that we will not have to deal with any of that nonsense, here.

You know, I decided I was going to pay the fairly standard fee of $10 for the mp3s. Then I realized that it only amounts to around 5 British pounds. Man, the exchange rate sucks. It's a pity that the CD/vinyl set is $80. That's a little beyond my budget, at the moment.

The View's flat earther blames "senior poopy moment"

September 19, 2007 11:09pm

I'm sorry, but since when has anyone on The View EVER been relevant? Anyone who takes any of them seriously is a fool anyway.

Papers Please: Arrested at Circuit City for refusing to show ID, receipt

September 3, 2007 2:22pm

Okay, I'm not reading this whole comment thread. Way too huge. But being asked to see the reciept is nothing new. They've been doing that at stores like Wal-Mart since well before 9/11. I don't see anything wrong with that and only the most anal, ridiculous person would. I'm a private guy, and even I couldn't care less. I just bought the stuff there, so why do I care if they want to look through it?

Now, if they wanted to search me and the store wanted to see my ID, then I'd have a problem. Unless I was doing something suspicious, I see no reason why they need to see that.

Am I the only one here who's primarily fascinated by the fact that there's a warlock out there named "Bunky"?
