Teaser for Pirate's Dilemma TV show

July 1, 2008 7:23am

The modern flash game industry co-opts piracy into its business model. Portals and advertisers pay developers to put links in their games, so when the game is "stolen" by turn-key portal sites, it spreads the links all across the electroweb.

Bananas are atheist nightmares!

June 10, 2008 7:22am

It's perfectly fair to bring up this video after it's new, seeing as how the video itself is just a rehash of the Ontological Argument refuted by the likes of Kant, and demolished by Mark Twain in a 1903 Scientific American article. "Was The World Made for Man?"

TSA outlaws flights to those who refuse to show ID

June 9, 2008 1:11pm

#18, because it is illegal to drink if you aren't 21. It is not illegal to travel from one state to another at any age. The ID is to verify your age, not your identification.

It should not be illegal in a free society to travel from state to state without disclosing your ID either. Regimes that restrict travel use that restriction as a tool of oppression.

Identification is not security. Making a fake ID is easy, no matter what holograms or RFID chips we use. Relying on ID makes us less safe because we trust fake IDs more than we should.

Giving up privacy does not make us more secure. If anything it makes us less secure, because the people we put in charge of our security are not necessarily trustworthy. Case in point, you can't put a lock on your luggage anymore, and luggage inspectors can easily steal your stuff, with no oversight or repercussions.

Anti-kid modifications to public steps

Won't somebody please think of the chiiiiildreeeeen? (loitering)

Seriously city councils, kids need more stuff to do outside, not less. When all they have to do is drugs and video games, that's all they'll do. You'd better build them a nice skate park to make up for this.

Cisco internal memo: Chinese censorship and surveillance are "opportunities"

May 22, 2008 12:22pm

Correct if I'm wrong, but isn't it true that after Tienanmen Square, it was made illegal for a US company to obtain a contract to help China with any kind of "police" activity?

Five vestigial organs and functions (appendix not included)

May 20, 2008 5:39pm

Organs have function because they are a result of design. Natural selection IS a form of design. It's not intelligent, but it's not random or accidental by any means.

Celebrity robot tee

May 20, 2008 11:48am

I think it's funny to accuse them of ripping off super7store while ignoring the obvious fact that both companies sell shirts that intend to profit off of copywritten characters that don't belong to them.

Not that it stopped me from buying the robot shirt, but none of those shirts would stand up to a copyright infringement suit.

David Byrne turns a building into a musical instrument

May 13, 2008 7:32am

Also, #1 and #4, You know what else has been done before? Posting on the internet about how something new is actually a re-hash of something someone else has done.

Welcome to human culture.

David Byrne turns a building into a musical instrument

May 13, 2008 7:28am

#6 How is that even remotely an ego-centric thing to say? The man is a music professional, yet he's saying you don't have to be a professional to create music.

Brain uses a third of its energy on "housekeeping"

Ever seen an MRI or EEG? Most of your brain is doing something most of the time.

Snopes has a great article on the 10% myth.

#3, I really hope you are kidding, and are making fun of the "we do not use but a small part of our brain's capabilities" myth.

Megaman IS a robot, not a guy in a suit. All of the Robot Masters from all of the games have the word "man" in their name.

Geez! Bone up on your Megaman lore, people!
