Sweet stop-motion video of paintings on public spaces

May 15, 2008 3:29pm

The video says that no "commercial websites" are allowed to post the video. Doesn't boingboing count as a "commercial website" since they have ads and sponsors?

(just wondering)

Einstein: Religion is "childish," "primitive"

May 14, 2008 7:22am

"OK, so that's Einstein's take on it. What happens when the next Newton or Da Vinci comes along, and he happens to be a Scientologist? Oops."

(facepalm)

Only trolls are this obtuse on purpose.

Craftsman's $8600 everything toolkit

May 8, 2008 11:17am

I'll take the old "made in USA" Craftsman tools over this cheap Chinese garbage any day.

Back in the early 90's I used to think my dad was weird when he'd buy old Craftsman tools at yard sales and flea markets. Now that I've bought the Chinese-made ones, it looks like I'll be doing the same.

HOWTO kill/block an RFID

April 25, 2008 3:08pm

If you're going to smash the RFID with a hammer, make sure to place a towel over it so you won't leave crosshatch indentations on the passport.

Gama-Go hoodie sale, including Boing Boing hoodie!

April 5, 2008 4:38pm

Oh great, another "gama-go" thread. "their clothes are too expensive! waaah! I can buy 100 shirts at Walmart for the same price!"

What people don't seem to realize is that their stuff is made in the US, not in some Chinese sweatshop by a chained-up 5 year old. They've posted in the past how they pay their employees livable wages, benefits, insurance, etc. Their stitching, embroidering, materials and durability are much better than what you'll find at Wally world or Target.

Then there's the people (usually old people) who whine about why they're called "hoodies". They're technically called "hooded sweatshirts", not "sweatshirts". "Sweatshirts" is ambiguous and thus no longer as common. You say "TV" instead of "television", so why is it so bad to say "hoodies" instead of "hooded sweatshirts"?

Finally, the people who make fun of those who wear hoodies who are over the "age of 14". It's kind of sad that you feel there's a need to dress a certain way, like life requires a uniform. Sucks to be a corporate drone who is easily fooled by marketing. WTF are you doing on boingboing anyway?

US Peso deathwatch: Thai tailors switch to advertising in Euros

March 22, 2008 3:18am

@Deoh

"Don't forget Bret, boingboing being the absolute center of the universe is the most important place to 'push' our propaganda ever!"

Settle down, sweetheart. You act like corporations don't pay unscrupulous individuals to make multiple accounts at top sites to spew whatever PR-talk they want (see: "astroturf"). Happens every day.

Companies have been caught hiring people to write fake reviews for products or create fake "buzz" online (nVidia, Walmart, Blockbuster, BestBuy, etc.)

Whatever. Those three comments have the nasty smell of having been paid for, or at the very least acting like trolls. (see: "troll post is troll!")

Don't like what you see here? Simple, GTFO; nobody likes people who troll threads.

Raccoon takes cat's food: video

February 13, 2008 8:48pm

That little bandit better not try that with my cat. I'd put a few couple copper tops right into his rabies-infested skull.

Bullets are only 12 cents each, rabies shots and and a few trips to the vet are a little more than that.

Infomercial for foot pads to leach toxic compounds from body

January 23, 2008 7:31pm

Damn skep, your logic-fu is strong. If I were "Antinous", I'd be in the fetal position right now questioning anything and everything I'd ever believed in.

If I were Antinous' best friend, I would deny that I knew him after reading your post ;p

Raquel Welch: Space-Girl Dance

January 17, 2008 2:52pm

Damn, I never realized how hot Raquel Welch was @_@

I really dig that 60's look. Very sexy.

Man gets disorderly conduct charge for writing vulgar message on check

January 15, 2008 10:30pm

I once got a ticket for parking too long at the public library (longer than 1 hour). When I mailed them the money order, I made it out to the "Porking Enforcement" division, intentionally misspelling "parking" as my form of protest and writing it in caps in both the envelope AND the money order itself...

Well, they must have gotten pissed off because about a month later I got a letter saying that I never payed the ticket and that I now had to go to court. Unfortunately for them, I had mailed the letter with a certificate of mailing ($.80); I simply photocopied the certificate of mailing receipt (thank god I kept it!) and the money order receipt and mailed it back to the "Porking Enforcement Division".

Never heard from them again :D

@EvilTerran

I thought it was funny. Seriously, Crumb? "can't read the handwriting" of a daily comic written on a wacom tablet? Kind of a d-bag post, don't you think?

Robert Williams's new web site

December 24, 2007 8:53am

I have to agree with Billy, even though I don't agree with his D-bag tone. I have two issues of Juxtapoz from 1997 where Rob't and Coop were featured back to back, think.

There's definitely more (and better) art out there, but lately it seems as if most artists are busy drawing either vector-cutesy-graffiti-meets-Bape-mascot-with-a-hint-of-web2.0-glossiness
or cut-and-paste-tribal-arrow-spraypaint-grunge-vector-packs-from-media-arsenal-with-old-english-lettering to do anything creative.
