This would certainly take care of the "accidentally calling someone whilst the phone is in your pocket" problem.

Three-year-old boy has never slept; parents maintain 24-hour vigil

May 10, 2008 9:51am

Agree with #1 for want of details.

He must be tripping balls already, considering that normally one who goes without sleep for even a couple weeks starts hallucinating. Probably has a whole gallery of imaginary friends.

And he can't go to sleep with medication? Put a bottle of Nyquil in the little bugger and see him stay awake after that.

Some China firms outsourcing to USA to cut costs

Bwahaha. We did it to them, now they're doing it to us.

Free Little Brother for librarians, teachers, etc -- a tipjar alternative for people who loved the free ebook

May 6, 2008 11:16am

I really enjoyed this book. I'm currently passing it around to all the teens in my life, who don't have sources of income of their own yet. I'm hoping this becomes a series? Or maybe a comic book adaptation? *HINT HINT*

Young adult sections in bookstore -- a parallel universe of little-regarded awesomeness

May 1, 2008 6:59pm

So.. I went to go pick up my copy of Little Brother today, since I now knew which section to look for it in. I was walking out the door with my purchase, and the beepbeepbeep alarm went off. I was like, "lol oxymoron".

I looked inside the book for the little tag or sticker, but I couldn't find where they put it. How do I destroy it, with minimal damage to the book? Microwave?

Kids' book about pot: "It's Just a Plant"

April 23, 2008 1:44pm

I like how the parents in the book are superhippies, with their psychadelic carpet and Kama-Sutra bedroom set-up. Teehee.

Seriously though, I dig the book. I'm thinking of getting the 5 pack and donating a few to the local libraries.

Experiment: 96% of passers-by ignore famous artist's street painting

April 23, 2008 12:10pm

Yeah, this was lame. The experiment had way to many flaws to actually gauge peoples' "interest in art".

Especially because at night, people are walking fast and ignoring their surroundings on purpose because it's dark and they need to get home. During the night time portion, nobody looked at it for this reason.

Surgery of item being removed from rectum appears online

April 21, 2008 9:50am

I agree with #5. Dude's identity was not revealed so I don't know why he's filing a lawsuit. If anything, making a big stink about it will only increase the chances of his identity becoming known.

I mean, if you get a can of deodorant lost up your bum, you can't expect people not to laugh at you. If you don't want to be laughed at, then just stick with dildos that are designed not to get lost up there, for fuck's sake.

The only non-kosher thing I saw was some dude taking a camera phone shot. Touching your phone with your sterilized gloves in a surgery environment surely contaminates something.

Video of burglars breaking into home

Yeah, this'll be easy. Now we know that we just need to look for a pair of fat, uneducated, white trash Midwesterners. They should stick out in Colorado like a sore thumb..

..NOT!!! :D

Free Range Kids, blog for raising kids without being freaked out about safety all the time

April 13, 2008 9:57am

My parents didn't really have much to do with raising me. They were pretty much just a bunch of bad influences on me anyway. Whenever they did pay attention, they would just screw up royally ("No, you can't do gymnastics, you'll break your neck.").

Also, my mom became a single parent pretty early in my childhood. I was left alone for hours upon hours at a time, far into the night. I would leave in the evening and run around with my friends till it was around midnight or so, because I knew that's when my mom would get off work and come home. She would call the house to check on me (before cell phones) and when I wouldn't answer I would just tell her I'd been in the shower. I would even wet the towel as if I'd taken a shower later.

I had a lot of fun, and I learned a lot. I consider myself a pretty smart person now. I learned to spot trouble a mile away and I learned to give shady people a wide berth when walking at night. I read a LOT of books. Mom tried to make up for not being there by buying me whatever I wanted, and I wanted books. I had a library that took up a whole wall of the apartment.

Of course, I did end up going into teenage years with a lack of weird knowledge that other people usually know because their parents teach them. Such as, how to use hair conditioner properly, how to shave your legs, how to read a map, how to dress oneself without looking like a clown, matching colors and such. Luckily a stepsister eventually came along and pointed me in the right direction.

Why not just use www.bugmenot.com ? Then you don't have to install weird softwares for no reason.

Tibet: China blocks YouTube, protests spread, bloggers react

March 16, 2008 10:42am

WTF is China's problem?

They (government, not necessarily the people) are always pulling dumb crap like the above. The internet chatter from the people of 'those ungrateful minorities' is probably going to turn around to 'f*ck the government' now that China has turned off YouTube.

Also, what is with China contributing massively to that big pile of toxic trash in the ocean? They are saying in these articles that a large percentage of the of the trash has Chinese writing all over it. Yeah, I know we all contributed to that major screwup but China sure did more than its part in screwing over the environment.

China's government = FAIL. They need to step down before the people realize they're bigger than them and step up.

Chinese people, please make ur guvvernmints to stop ruining teh wurld, and has a cheezburger with no cardboards in teh meatz. In return we will try make our guvvernmints do teh same, kthxbai.
