Boing Boing's new community features!

Sounds neat, but... I'd like to take the opportunity to ask if there are plans on integrating openID into the system and if not, why? Using Bugmenot to sign into BoingBoing seems off, but I'd rather do that than have to manage yet another account.
IT Crowd to return for a third season!
November 2, 2007 9:35am
'The IT Crowd' would be OK if it was actually funny... Perhaps it's a cultural thing, but speaking as a Brit it's really not that good.
Library's clever answer to network filtering
November 1, 2007 2:40pm
As a former public library librarian, I can say that unfiltered Internet is simultaneously 1)important for intellectual freedom reasons and 2) a giant pain in the rear end. More broadly speaking, computers are transforming the texture of libraries and attracting new demographic slices that previously had no use for the library. Add to that what Amazon and Half.com have done for allowing book lovers to access books, and the impact of Google on giving people access to basic reference information, and you have even more more upheaval in public library land. Just today I predicted to a colleague that by 2025, the stereotype of public libraries as being about books and a quiet environment will be replaced by something having to do with computers, community programming, and probably the taint of Internet addiction/e-stalking/etc.
Dry erase cheese board

Ummmm-um! Just thinking about warm, gooey brie with just a hint of dry-erase green mixed in...or a pungent Swiss with notes of dry-erase brown...

Italy proposes a Ministry of Blogging with mandatory blog-licensing
October 22, 2007 7:30am
In soviet Italy, government kills your blog.
In Italy we have a very very sad and stupdi prime minister, Romano Prodi, an ex-communist that is ruining our country. This censorship law is born from the need to stop the spreading of scandals involving the governmente members, for example the Sircana case, a government spokesman who was caught on a road chatting to some bitches-trans, and the photos spread over the internet.

Van Halen: recorded Jump goof at concert
October 20, 2007 11:45am
Strangely, this gaffe didn't get mentioned in a local newspaper review which did highlight "rough spots" in the setlist:
"This was the second show of the tour and Wolfgang is still getting his sea legs as Van Halen’s bassist and backup vocalist. So there were some rough spots, especially on the songs requiring a lighter touch (“Dance the Night Away,” “Jamie’s Cryin’”).
Still, there were only a handful of clunkers, and virtually the entire soldout crowd stayed on its feet for the entire two-hour show."

Someone on youtube claims the video is doctored with bad overdubbed guitar, but I'm not convinced. I think it's real.

Man, that hurts.
Michael Anthony has to be thankful he's not in this train wreck.
BBC announces that it may NOT deliver Linux/Mac/older Windows version of iPlayer -- sorry, 25% of UK, no iPlayer for you!
October 16, 2007 2:44pm
Why does the RSS feed have a title that says "will NEVER deliver" whilst the story on the website it links to has a title that says 'may NOT deliver'?
Did the story of the title get altered after lots of comments that 'will NEVER deliver' is blatantly inaccurate?

New AT&T terms of service: We'll cut off your Internet connection for criticizing us
September 29, 2007 11:20am
I'm not sure if I'm missing something from BoingBoing from what you guys are saying, but to me BB is just a site, information at it's finest and so far "FREE".... in some cases thanks to AT&T, so into the real subject, AT&T is providing a "service" that YOU and I pay for and that is related very close to the Freedom of Speech amnt. because it allows us all to diseminate the "message". Overall, I think it is wrong and I hope it brings them problems...
an AT&T customer...I guess not much longer :P
