Oh, and lucky the smoke cloud wasn't mushroom-shaped...

Science project smolders on subway, panic ensues

March 29, 2008 12:56am

One half of my mind is filled with pitty for those dumb suckers that will panic any time something unusual happens. The conditionning was wery efficiently applied...
Another half of my mind laughs uncontrolably. The greatest nation on Earth is filled with quivering idjots that are scared of anything technical... But what would you expect from a flock of sheep that don't do science because it might contradict what's wrtitten in The Big Book.
Yet another half feels there's some sense of justice in all that.
The last half thinks it's time to review the chapter on fractions.

Virgin will use biodiesel in test flight

Whatever fuel is used, the problem goes deeper: is is really a good thing to move people thousands of kilometers away so they think they can escape what they're convinced (by advertisisng)is a boring, dreary, miserable life while increasing the global misery?

More to the point, Airbus did fly its A380 with natural gas (non-petroleum based) fuel:

I'd like to see an evaluation of the impact of switching fuel on the amount of CO2 that is released per passenger per kilometer, compared to traditional passenger planes, train and cars...

Lowepro SlingShot Shoulder Bag for Cameras

November 13, 2007 11:27am

I've owned several Lowerpro bags, and the last one is the Slingshot. I love the design of this bag, I use the biggest size to carry either two large SLR + lenses or one SLR + a couple of lenses and a large HDV camera, and there's room left for a wallet, book and other odds and ends. I use it as an everyday bag with one SLR, macro extension tubes and all the daily stuff I carry around. I think the design of this bag is great, especially the waist band that takes the wight off the shoulder strap when carrying it for an extended period if the bag is heavily loaded.
IMy gripe, and the reason I will not ever buy another Lowepro product, is that the zippers are of an inferior quality. This is the second Lowepro bag I own, and the second where the zipper lasts for less than six months. That equipment is not made for heavy use...
