BBC Micro creators reunion tonight at London Science Museum
March 20, 2008 4:51pm
Yeah, these were the days. I remember assembling my Acorn Atom from the kit version (still have it today), and learning Acorn integer basic and 6502 assembler, all this with a 2Kbyte memory expanded to 8 Kb with 2114 chips :-) After that, I remember buying an Acorn Electron (the BBC computer little cheapo brother) and playing Elite...
BBC structured Basic was one of the best Basics i ever enjoyed. Thanks to all Acorn creators for those very happy computing and playing years.
Starbucks at Guantanamo Bay?
February 13, 2008 4:28am
I found this disturbing. Guantanamo is out of reach to US justice and International justice and not to Starbucks, McDonald's, Pizza Hut??? How could these consumer brands endorse, even indirectly what is going on at Guantanamo (torture, arbitrary detention)? No more Starbuck's or Big macs for me.

Here we have, the worst french president since the World War 2... Incompetent, able to say one thing and do the exact opposite with a smiling face, enemy of freedom (attacking civil rights, social rights, internet rights; databasing and promoting surveillance of everyone) see

Solely interested in his wealth and public image, corrupted, specialist at using verbal logoreah to confuse people, plays the good christian seeking the pope and at the same time promote the worst rules against poors, minorities and strangers.
What a good president! Country is f....d for a long time.

Please wake up! We HAD a bunch of safeguards in France! How could it be different when all the politic and media levers are in the same hands (senat, parliament, newspapers, tv channels, etc.) and political opposition is inexistant or in very bad shape? Where are the counterpowers? i see none. Just look at the laws being voted in the last 3 years and don't forget the actual president was elected with right extremists votes. This is turning like a "Vichy" bad remake (populism, racism, poor an minority hunting, censorship to name a few). All this is just going bananas. I think France Future is bleak. The copyfight/free software movement is very strong in france, but what do you do when politics don't listen? We must fight.
