What is on Keith's tongue?

June 10, 2008 5:00pm

I have these too, slightly smaller. If you get something on your tongue caught just nip it off with a nailclipper or something. Seriously, infection be damned.

Sunspots don't cause global warming, people do

April 4, 2008 6:41am

The effects of climate change will only be proved as they happen, but 'possible' scenarios scare us because we don't like change.
G Jules #7 said we ought to be "keeping the world in a state capable of maintaining our continued existence". How do you propose to do that with the entire earth? A climate changes, that's what weather, ice ages, volcanoes, a dynamic planet does. We can no more control it than we can the core of the earth.
Whether it's change is 'bad' or 'good' is moot.
Unless humans did it. Then it's bad.

Sunspots don't cause global warming, people do

It's interesting that research into factors affecting climate change make someone a 'climate change denialist'.
Or perhaps it just means 'people who propose combined effects other than solely the result of a group of humans'. But who knows, it's not like we'll get to find out anything if any scientist who investigates otherwise is shunned and denied.

In this case, appropriate research has disproved his theory. Well done science. It has found something out by disproof, the only tool it has. Henrik was as essential to this research as the team who disproved him.

What does Black Sabbath song have to do with Iron Man?

April 4, 2008 5:24am

I have a theory of my own about this. Birmingham, UK the hometown of Black Sabbath, has a large iconic metal statue in it's city centre entitled, funnily enough, Iron Man. Whether the idea was unconsciously from it or they want to avoid association for legal or whatever reasons, I couldn't say. Either they thought of it and the statue is a homage or the statue (or whatever it was based on) was copied.

It's funny that the American theme is just Beethoven's 5th, when that was the British Victory theme during the war to come

Scientists to make cows fart like kangaroos

January 4, 2008 4:05pm

An animals digestive culture is the result of generational inheritance, and is suited very specifically to the animal it's in. It's bizarre that they would even try this, rather than figuring out why the kangaroo's fart's don't contain methane with good old fasioned science.

That said, I wonder who's job it was to collect kangaroo farts uintil they noticed there was little methane in them?

What would it be like to be the last person on Earth?

January 4, 2008 4:00pm

Mimicing other comments, anyting but the most ancient russian reactors are designed to shut themself off rather than explode if left alone, so all that guff about chernobyls across the east coast is not likely. The rest of it describes situations that much of the world deal with perfectly fine today.

However if a daily mail reader were the last human on earth , I wouldn't trust them to survive long without breaking something's leg. Or at least trying to build a wall around Britain.

What Should I Do In Berlin?

January 2, 2008 5:18pm

Go to Potsdamer Platz and look for the icecream shop on the East side. It's the greatest icecream parlour in the world!

Also Museum Island, and the German history museum. They really know how to make a museum interesting! Zombies, guns, swords and armour!
