Glitching Speak & Spell without cracking it open

July 29, 2008 6:57am

#4 - I had the math one too! I wish i could remember what it was called. I totally remember the weird divide key sound, my sister and i could never figure out what it was saying. It's a sort of vague sound in my memory too - something like: robot sound, robot sound - "little lens"?? Is that it, damn i can't remember, this is going to drive me nuts all day...

Tortoise hates cats

That is one bad ass tortoise! I love how he kept going for the tail too.

Did eBoost Media customer service rep call customer a faggot?

July 23, 2008 11:31am

i don't think it's the same woman. The second one's voice seems deeper, but they are very close. Anyone else wondering what "severely reprimanded" means. Shouldn't that person have been fired???

Teen discovers bat hiding in her bra

July 8, 2008 11:47am

@12

Taken directly from the article:

"The teenager's general manager freed the bat in the hotel garden."

The bat got away! Yay! (There is something very Beatrix Potter about this, al la 2 bad mice)

Go Anywhere Backpack smooshes into a pocket-sized ball

@10
I know, i was bummed too, it seemed so perfect-great size, folds up to almost nothing, and cool design/colors. Oh well, maybe they will make a better version.

Go Anywhere Backpack smooshes into a pocket-sized ball

July 8, 2008 7:32am

@8 - i have the exact bag you posted a link to, unfortunately it is not sturdy at all. I have had to sew it up a bunch of times. There are too many seams that can't handle very much weight, and then the nylon starts to fray. I also have the shoulder grocery bag, and that one has held up beautifully. The backpack version is only good for hauling around an extra sweatshirt or something, but then again you could just tie it around your waist.

Bank of America enrolls you in "Credit Protection Plus" without your permission

June 30, 2008 1:12pm

My mom was just telling me about Citizens Bank doing this to her too. It took her multiple phone calls, but eventually she got them to reverse the charges. Such a scam - i hate banks...credit union seems like a much better option.

Goodbye, George Carlin

June 23, 2008 8:51am

in the 90s i got to see him in NYC for the taping of one of the HBO specials. I was 16 and and the tickets were a birthday present. I have never laughed so hard in my life; still to this day i can say that. The amazing thing about seeing him live is that it truly is even funnier than what you see on TV. There is something about being there surrounded by people, watching this tremendous comedian, and yet you feel like he is only talking to you. A true master. I was hoping to see him this summer, oh well - sigh. RIP

The Birds Barbie doll gets her eyes pecked

June 19, 2008 9:04am

and while we're at it, why not a Rear Window doll with Jimmy Stewart in a wheel chair, there could even be an accompanying cardboard backdrop of his apartment and the view. Of course there would have to be a Grace Kelly companion doll too...

Philly cops raids activists who circulated anti-CCTV petititon

June 18, 2008 7:53am

I was thinking that perhaps the cops are a little overaggressive about this because of the whole MOVE thing that happened in the 70s.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MOVE

It is still talked about here (i live in philly) and i wouldn't be surprised if the cops are hyper sensitive to what they might consider the beginnings of a radical group.

I'm not trying to excuse them, but Philly cops have to deal with some of the worst crime in the country (think the wire), and i think they tend to overreact because they are under tremendous pressure to get crime down.

Video: Climb Dance, Peugeot 405 T16 run up Pikes Peak (1990)

June 12, 2008 8:31am

This reminds me of a video i saw of a Ferrari speeding through Paris without stopping once. I heard and i don't know if it's true that the guy who made this film submitted it to Cannes and then was arrested there by the police for the speeding that he filmed. Could just be a legend though...

Sign advertising rabbit meat

April 25, 2008 5:33pm

It reminds me of a little shop i went to in Italy - they specialized in cured meats and had this little scene set up in the entry way that had like 4 taxidermy pigs (actually i think they were wild boar) sitting around a fully set table eating. Oh yeah, they also were fully dressed. One of the oddest things i've ever seen.
