A similar thing happened to my friend on the way back from Mexico. The group had bought a couple nice bottles of Tequila. She ended up handing hers over to the agent, but her buddy popped the bottle and passed it down the long winding line for customs. Instant fiesta where once there was simply the doldrums of airport security. :)
