Reviewing the real world as if it were a MMO -- sheer genius

April 2, 2008 2:25am

I recommend reading the article that's linked to there. It's a really interesting read about the cultural antipathy towards video games.

I would totally buy Super Pii Pii Brothers if it were real.

Watchpeanuts: Watchmen as Charles M Schulz drawings

I'm sure I've seen this done before, with Pigpen as Rorschach, Linus as Dr. Manhattan, Charlie Brown as Nite Owl and Snoopy as The Comedian...

Romanian manga -- manga meets Metal Hurlant meets Marvel

January 30, 2008 1:29am

I don't know why they flipped the image, but it's of Wikipe-tan, a cute anime girl personification of Wikipedia, hence the puzzle pieces.

I only just recently found out about Wikipe-tan, noticing the adorable little icon at the bottom of an anime-related stub. ^___^

Marching band's classic video game themed halftime show

January 21, 2008 12:36am

Just fantastic. I loved the mascots coming out of the pokeballs and fighting! (though that was the only game depicted I haven't played, heh)

The only thing that could have made it better is if it had been recorded from the other side of the field. :)

World of Warcraft limits your wealth to 2^31 copper

January 19, 2008 7:33am

Actually, that's 2^31 copper pieces. If you get 100 copper it automatically converts it into 1 silver, and 100 silver into 1 gold.

Sorry to geek out so much about it. :P

Page 825! Was the magazine that long every month? Or that bizarre?

... Well it does look like it was usually a little weird:

The stuff on those covers really doesn't look "everyday", especially not for the 30's.

Bloodspell machinima feature film released as a single cut

October 22, 2007 6:42pm

This is definitely not the first. There was a feature-length Quake movie, "The Devil's Covenant" released in 1996, meaning it actually predates the term "Machinima"! Then there's "The Seal of Nehahra", released in 2000, which clocks in at just under four hours. Admittedly they're not exactly art, but they're about on par with bad DTV action/horror movies.
