Crazy design of house sparks neighborhood protest

I remember watching this on tv when I was back in Japan last year. The clip is actually a 30 minute documentary. inside, instead of stairs he has a slide that he uses to get from the top floor to the bottom. and if I remember correctly he has a few lizards - like iguanas, several other weird pets and a wife.

Life and times of a Consumer Reports secret shopper
February 26, 2008 11:58pm
I had this conversation with a colleague the other day and I had told him that what we'll see is, with web 2.0, we're going to have legions of testers and consumers and consumers congregating on communities online where companies can go to and gather information or to ask for volunteers to be guinea pigs.
Gone will be the days where we will hire market research agencies because we will get a 99% accurate sampling and very honest (painfully sometimes) opinion. That becomes transparent what's allowed to be published becomes credible, thus PR.
We probably won't need that many lab conditions to test things because we'll get it straight from the horses' mouths.
I also wrote this article speculating the future of how a supermarket would be:

Futuristic public toilet in London
February 26, 2008 12:14am
I'm from longone, I mean London, and these toilets are real crap (pun intentional). They smell like it's been there since the Ice age and the doors either don't open, or if they open, they don't shut and if they do shut, there'll be a gap so you'll be showing your happy bits and pieces to the passing world outside. Of course judging by the brands of bottles and cans in there, I can tell just what sort of people use it so the door problem ain't going to be a problem. For a serious loadda crapper, you should check this out: http://theworldofm.wordpress.com/2008/02/18/a-very-costly-doo-doo/
Boing boing admin: if we're not allowed to put up links like that, please let me know. I wasn't sure where you stand on this so please accept my apologies if I broke the rules.

A common sight that is also not surprising, since these umbrellas are mostly cheap, but quite often freely distributed...
