Jeremy Fish's Barry the Beaver toy

It doesn't look meant to be an insertable. If you're inserting, you need something to hold onto, so five inches turns into two and a half inches pretty fast.
Assuming you grasp it the way a toddler grasps a crayon. Barry's stump is more than enough to hold onto, and for that matter the cavity of insertion can do a fair share of the holding itself. All of Barry's surface features might make him a little awkward, but if he wasn't at least in theory meant to be insertable, he wouldn't have that darling little curved up tail. It just depends on preference. Besides, throughout the ages a lot of things that were never meant to be insertable have been employed in that capacity. :)

So the wording here is stupid- big deal. I agree with #18: As long as the intent is positive, this is way cool. And you know, they probably settled on 'Ethnic' because they were afraid to say 'Black' because despite their obviously limited English they managed to understand that in the West, it can be considered a slur. And there is no universal, proper alternative. So it's like...can't win.
Where and since when has "black" been considered a slur? As a black person, I know a ton of slurs referring to myself and others like me, but black has never been one to my knowledge.
Secondly, good intentions is a poor excuse. The road to hell and all that.
Comparing food products with their package photos
March 25, 2008 6:26pm
Is it just me or does Germany have a wealth of pre-prepared food products the likes of which is unseen in the US?
Man builds giant chicken manure catapult to battle vandals
March 19, 2008 9:11pm
Smart-poo. Love it.
Here in Florida (and some other states as well maybe?) we have the "Shoot First Law". Basically, we can shoot anyone anywhere whenever we feel threatened. I think I'll write my congressman to introduce a "Poo First Law".
Amsterdam currency exchangers won't take US dollars
March 18, 2008 9:31am
You can't even get 100 yen for a dollar now. Even the Canadian Dollar is worth more. No offense to Canadians, I just mean the Canadian dollar has not been very strong in the past.
I'm gonna convert all my savings to gold bars and bury them in the backyard. :)
Man creates online shrine for favorite cookie fortune

I got one that said: "It's time to go collect the goods."
HELL YEAH! I don't know what goods I need to collect, but I'm ready.
Chinese film star's sex-pix leaked by laptop tech, spreading everywhere
February 20, 2008 12:48pm
It's interesting because sex pictures coming out in America don't really mean anything these days, but Edison Chen has lost multiple advertisement accounts and (I believe) a movie part over this. And no woman will want to be alone with him now. Though I think that last part hardly matters, because as the pictures show, he's been with just about everybody.
StarShipSofa science fiction podcast

It's a shame there isn't a comprehensive archive. I managed to grab a bunch after following Daniel Warner's link, but I wish I could listen to them all.

At the Cincinnati airport they have a machine I call "The Puffer" that, when entered, blows brief, strong puffs of air on you and then apparently analyzes them for traces of explosives. However, they don't run everyone through the machine, just a lucky few pulled out of line randomly.
Honor student suspended for bringing multitool to school
January 22, 2008 2:54pm
It's easy to say this case is ridiculous when you enjoy a relatively safe upbringing. We didn't even have plastic knives in our school cafeteria when I was in high school, and I went to the "good" school (and we did have a stabbing incident). The "bad" school had metal detectors at the entrances and everyone had mandatory clear backpacks.
Florida school board approves McDonald's report-cards and school-bus audio ads
January 20, 2008 7:56am
I don't know about anyone else, but in my personal school bus experience, Bus Radio would be a total waste of money. Every school bus I ever rode on in my grade school days was (go figure) full of kids, and we were always so loud we could barely hear each other, let alone the bus driver's radio.
Army Seeks "Professional Celebrity Rock Music Band"
January 13, 2008 3:01pm
I though this gig was already filled. I went to the movies a little under two weeks ago and was treated to a music video by Three Doors Down called "Citizen Soldier", brought to me by the National Guard. Or does the Army not get to use them because the National Guard got them first?
Orlando's Family Auto Mart infomercial
January 11, 2008 6:16am
Another Orlandoan (Orlandite?) here. My personal favorite regarding wacky Orlando commercials: aathe ones for car audio supply store "Big Diggler's Junk in the Trunk". Featuring a portly, shirtless man with an afro and cape anad plenty of fine women.

Wow, this comment thread has a lot of very knowledgeable posters in it. I just wanted to comment that the name of the person who sent this in made me laugh. Pooty McDooDoo, haha!
POW editions of Monopoly from WWII included escape kits

Who said all of the escapees were American? Monopoly was an international sensation, with versions being printed in multiple languages/countries.
Consumer Reports corrects "restless leg" drug TV ad
November 12, 2007 1:29pm
I would like to note that commercials for rival RLS drug Mirapex mention the increased propensity for gambling/sexual urges. Trying to get the upper hand in the RLS market?
And while I like to take shots at the pharmaceutical biz as much as the next guy, it kills me when people labels syndromes as BS because they find them to be unworthy. Physicians have been presenting findings on RLS for at least one hundred years.
