Massive guitar for sale

May 10, 2008 3:29am

I'm sure my hands will learn to stretch.

I second the comment about needing a capo and raise Fnarf a pickup.

Using a record-cutter to turn old CDs into 45RPM singles

May 9, 2008 3:51am

I'd like to do this, but with blank CDs; it seems like a fun way to burn music.

Al Capp's "Fearless Fosdick" inspiration for Kurtzman's Mad?

May 8, 2008 6:31pm

"Fosdick! We thought you were dead!"
"I was - but it didn't prove fatal. Only a mild case."

Video: BlackBerry 9000 Hands-On

May 8, 2008 4:46pm

Clearly the company has started following internet memes. It's over... wait, no, it's exactly 9000.

Surreal muscle magazine cover

May 7, 2008 5:32pm

This stuff is absurd - take http://www.musculardevelopment.com/photos/transferred/nsstate_416.jpg as example. Also: They have a WEBSITE?

Democratic Senator puts ISPs on notice: "think twice" before screwing up Net Neutrality

May 7, 2008 3:52am

I don't mind sites preaching hate speech. They're fun to make fun of.

Isabella Rossellini's bug porno videos now online

May 6, 2008 2:57pm

This is a fascinating expansion of the 'porn' genre, if that's really what this is. They feel more like kickass educational films.

John Cleese visits Laughing Club in India

April 28, 2008 2:22pm

Ho, ho, ha ha ha! Ho, ho, ha ha ha!

Ukulele Blitzkrieg Bop

April 25, 2008 2:51pm

I love 'ukuleles! I've been working on a version of "Mr. Self Destruct" by Trent Reznor.

Subterranean Japanese bike-parking robot

April 24, 2008 3:41am

Aren't there theft worries about such a system?

Charlie Rose interviews himself in edited video

April 22, 2008 6:39pm

I'd say that I laughed out loud, but then later readers wouldn't. So I won't.

Happy 107th birthday to my grandmother!

April 11, 2008 3:34pm

In 8 years, I might have a grandmother of that age.

Gorilla suit making workshop

April 10, 2008 7:41pm

I wish I weren't a student in high school right now, because this seems like a beautiful way to spend a dreary October weekend.

Burglar played dead at funeral home

April 3, 2008 5:26pm

What constitutes a Mickey Mouse voice exactly?

Microsoft busted by Indian government for avoiding royalty tax by saying that it sells -- not licenses -- its software

April 3, 2008 5:06am

You can't eat your "You can't have your cake and eat it too" and have it too.

Dan Proops's digital culture-inspired oil paintings

April 1, 2008 11:37am

Is the character on the right supposed to vaguely resemble Final Fantasy X's Rikku?

In the age of ebooks, you don't own your library

March 23, 2008 9:30am

I really, really hope that this wasn't the hidden agenda of these companies all along. They can't be THAT smart...

Newscast from a robot-dominated future -- Onion video

March 22, 2008 9:09am

I know who wrote this post before looking at the author. A Doctorow post is hard to miss.

Oil paintings inspired by Internet memes

March 10, 2008 6:31pm

I'd buy a painting of Looooooooooooooooooongcat.

Manual Of The Diseases of the Eye

March 10, 2008 10:13am

Delightfully, deliciously disconcerting!

Flowchart: How D&D is a gateway drug to every flavor of nerdiness

March 9, 2008 3:18pm

BB needs a Flowchart tag.

Video: Tex Avery's Television of Tomorrow (1953)

February 22, 2008 5:15pm

This is quite a clever short. I love the rapid pace of increasing absurdities; that's something you don't see anymore except in Mad, a magazine that stays true to its heritage.

Fawlty Towers radical chic

February 22, 2008 4:33am

It's a nice idea, but I'm not sure that the character is recognizable enough. I've seen Fawlty Towers, and I didn't know who the shirt was parodying until reading it.

Short video makes fun of to-do list mania

February 14, 2008 3:08pm

Eerie.

Aubrey De Grey on Colbert Report

February 12, 2008 2:05pm

This was a good interview because, unlike the majority of Colbert interviews, the interviewee was allowed to complete some sentences and told jokes of his own.

Spongebob voice actors overdub Classic movies

February 11, 2008 4:24pm

This is beautiful. Even though I haven't watched SpongeBob in years, this travels unpaved roads in the realm of comedy, transcending television and transforming clandestine classics, creating clever and truly tangible craziness.

Or something, anyways.

HOWTO do a movie decapitation

February 7, 2008 2:49pm

I hope that I'm not the only one that expected that the person explaining the method would have his head suddenly be chopped off mid-explanation. [seriously, why didn't that happen?]

Voters are told pen had "invisible ink"

February 7, 2008 2:09pm

I worked as a Chicago election judge and I can tell you that judges really are left mostly clueless.

Proposal to extend Euro copyright, and to force ISPs to spy on customers dies! EPIC FAIL!

January 22, 2008 3:16am

How is this epic fail? Isn't it, rather, EPIC WIN!?

Large truck converted to mobile home

January 15, 2008 4:41pm

I wouldn't mind living in one of those. Well, if gas weren't an issue. At any rate, I wouldn't mind living in a house of that size and shape without the truck part!

Laser-cut steel "flat" shelving you bend to suit

January 15, 2008 4:38am

I'd worry that if it can be folded by hand, it has a low carrying capacity.

Another five-year-old on the no-fly list: meet Sam Adams

January 11, 2008 3:29am

The terrorists are successful: They've caused millions of hours of time to be wasted extraneously and THAT is their real goat. If we wanted to fight terrorism, we'd make it easier to board planes.

Boom! comics' new series available as downloads on the same day as in stores

January 4, 2008 7:05am

I've, on several occasions, attempted to get into comic books but the $3.95 price tag always drove me off when I was only getting 32 pages and only part of a story. I'd much rather pay $15 for a good novel.

Mike Brady's angry Shakespearean critique of the Brady Bunch scripts

December 30, 2007 10:05am

In retrospect, The Wind Waker DID manage to evoke an epic atmosphere within its cartoon style, and that does not go against the grain of what Robert Reed says; visual style does not necessarily dictate storytelling style. Miyazaki's films demonstrate this with great potency.

Video: Empty Disneyland whirling teacup ride

December 26, 2007 7:43am

This does evoke a horror-movie atmosphere. I can fully imagine battling zombies from cup to cup.

Comedy mashup album: It is to Laff

December 11, 2007 4:41am

That would be Allan Sherman, not Alan. The mashup is surprisingly doubleplusgood.

Videos of Ramana's levitations

October 24, 2007 6:16pm

Why is this newsworthy? It's a person doing a magic trick. Those haven't been notable since the purported vanishing of the Statue of Liberty, itself a trick with a fun explanation (but one I'd rather not share)
