That Violet Blue thing

I just wasted 15 minutes on google for the most boring drama ever.

Thanks, internets. Thanks a whole lot.

Cal State University fires Quaker for inserting "nonviolently" into loyalty oath

Here's the director of HR. I noted in the story that she's the one who deemed it unacceptable and moved it up to counsel.

The most effective way to target a University is to threaten to contact large donors and make this situation known to them. Also, since this seems to be a regional university you might want to also mention you'll be contacting local churches to let them know that the Uni does not support religious freedom. After Donors, enrollment is the most important thing most care about.

If you're going to contact anyone, be polite! Being an asshat will only make whoever you're dealing with less likely to change their mind. Find the absolutely politest way in your own words to call them an inhuman jerk without actually saying it.

God forbid someone ever misaddress a piece of mail. This isn't even newsworthy or interesting, and posting it makes you and BB look petty. Good job! I'm sure a couple readers will take the time to harass him.

I think you guys killed the server. But if Bad Astronomy is still leading when the servers die that means they win! :D

Miro kicks Joost's ass

November 1, 2007 5:55am

Have they gotten any good content for Joost yet? I tried it a few months ago and most of the channels were bottom of the barrel offerings. Was fun to watch a couple episodes of Starsky and Hutch to test the delivery speed, but other than that I was unimpressed. Also, Joost has gone out of their way to invent a new, novel interface that is a pain to navigate.

I like Miro, but it's not a 'great' app either right now. It's hideously slow compared to the other apps on my system. The UI again has me scratching my head wondering what they were thinking in a lot of places. (Hint: Give me a way to select multiple files and delete them without going into the Host OS' file system to do it!)

Most of the problems I've had with the RSS feeds of torrents for commercial offerings is more based off the source feeds listing 3 copies of the same show, Miro's just obeying the feed.

At least the Miro team fixed the one bug I encountered before the rename -- it refused to remember it's settings between loads.

Looks significantly less cluttered than the previous incarnation, which didn't start that way, just got crufty over the years.

Really happy to see comments come back!
