PearBudget -- awesomely simple expense tracking application

May 12, 2008 5:56pm

It is very nice looking. For someone like me who has trouble counting the change in his pockets, it didn't overwhelm me the way Quicken does.

Still, the $36 a year...where do I budget for that?

Ancient wrist-mounted scrolling map -- Boing Boing Gadgets

May 7, 2008 4:08pm

If only it ran on steam, it would be perfect.

Mysterious "Full-Automatic Mahjong Table"

May 7, 2008 4:06pm

I find the clacking of the tiles oddly soothing.

Hands free umbrella with name of space prostitute is inventor's $400k dream

May 5, 2008 4:11pm

This would be great to wear in the shower when, you know, you really didn't want to have one in the first place.

Cute elephant urinal cleaning robot

April 23, 2008 5:38pm

Does it poop urinal cakes? Because it really should.

Voice-changing Dalek helmet

April 23, 2008 5:21pm

If this don't get me some lovin', nothing will.

#18--Yeah, the 'Old Boys Club' technicality.

Duct tape saved Apollo 17 moonbuggy, while on the moon.

April 21, 2008 3:01pm

The shadows are all wrong in this picture. Another sign of a NASA conspiracy to lull us into the belief that we actually went to the moon, this time through the soma of duct tape.

If soma can be made of duct tape. Which it probably can.

Funny/Creepy old comic book ad

Latex takes hard play

Snicker.

Chopping down trees to make books is good for the environment, provided you then line your walls with bookcases

April 20, 2008 9:10am

This just reminds me of Matt Groening's line about how-- as a child-- homes without books scared him. Who knew he was so environmentally aware at such an early age?

Celebrity robot tee

April 18, 2008 8:58am

@Pipenta--I think the tripod robot in the middle is from Spielberg's remake of 'War of the Worlds'.

Terrifying early-1950s comic book covers

GASP! (CHOKE!)

Dave Hill, Jedi Master in training.

April 7, 2008 1:16pm

I just know if I had one of those lightsabres, I'd be bricking every time I hit something with it, terrified I'd break it. I'd have to be a pacifist Jedi to save my sweet blade of light.

Craiglist stoner thanks pizza guy for best pizza ever

April 5, 2008 9:52am

This is why I don't do drugs. I only drink two litres of Thunderbird each night and call my ex-girlfriends at three a.m. to ask why they don't love me any more.

Decorated front yard in Ojai, CA

March 31, 2008 6:20pm

All I know is, I don't feel so bad about my yard now. Seriously. Ever see the area around a bird feeder after the snow melts? I'm thinking of moving just to get away from it.

Creepily lifelike CGI woman

March 30, 2008 11:02am

Jayzuz!

But why are her eyes so red? She's either hungover or a vampire. Or a dead soul who has now taken over my hard drive. OMG! I'm in internet version of 'The Grudge'! We're all doomed!

Incredible Epcot concept painting

March 29, 2008 7:05pm

I bet all the men in this painting wear Old Spice.

Hugo Nominees for 2008

March 21, 2008 9:28am

As usual, I haven't read any of the novels. Nice to see 'Doctor Who' up for two in Dramatic Short Form, even as the CBC--which co-produces the show--still dithers about whether to show the new season or not. Sorry, did I vent?

And while I love Torchwood, I wasn't sure 'Captain Jack Harkness' was *that* good....

US customs bar fashionista druggie writer for "moral turpitude"

#17--'the power-tripping "agent" RLRPing as Judge Dredd.'

Now that image is stuck in my head.
"Nice hat, creep."
