Tokyo Watch does unthinkable, releases intuitive-to-read Galaxy watch

So - I make it 10:38 then. Or nearly twenty to eleven.

Do I get a prize?

DIY anti-CCTV glasses

June 28, 2008 6:35am

"The other wire makes contact when you put the glasses on." I know it's only a couple of volts but I'd prefer not to have that juice running across my scalp. It messes with my happy thoughts. So make sure you connect the cells the same way round to minimise the possibility of making a plus to minus circuit.

Scrubbing the atmosphere of CO2

June 24, 2008 3:11am

Its a shame that these debates degenerate into arguments about nuclear energy/waste.
Also the guy isn't trying to de-compose the CO2 back into Carbon and Oxygen which we've already established is thermodynamic nonsense (except for bamboo and trees).
No the real concern I have here is that the guy wants to compress the CO2 into a liquid and stash it somewhere and my problem with that is the risk of it getting out. When this undeground lake of CO2 finds a way out to atmosphere it will decompress and flood the surroundings with a suffocating pool of CO2 just like that lake in Africa did.

Mad staring eyes of the headlamp ponzi-scheme mascot

I am speculating here but it could be an old fashioned way of describing Polarised headlamps. Then you wear the appropriate polarising glasses (as shown) and can see everything very clearly. Meanwhile your glasses filter out the light from the headlamps that are coming towards you because theirs are either polarised too(but - being on the other side of the road they are snubbed by your glasses) or at least dimmed through being not polarised.

Plastic Surgeon: Blister Pack Knife

December 12, 2007 1:53am

The secret to opening blister packs without tools is to know that their weak spot is the hole punched through them for the hanger. Get a finger into this hole and between the layers of blisteriness then a quick pull can usually rend the pack asunder.
By the way - the weak spot for plastic tape binding that goes around copier paper boxes (for example) is the join. Tease the loose end up and it can easily be ripped from the other end. Even if some of the tape stays stuck, the joint will have been weakened and easily snapped.
However - I accept no liability for any cuts you may suffer as a result of applying these techniques.
As far as I know there is no easy way to manually open steel tape bindings that have been clipped together with another steel fixing.

James Randi Calls Out Audiophile: I'm Sure the Crickets Will Sound Fantastic

October 2, 2007 3:11am

The best thing I saw with respect to digital cables was a device that sharpened-up the square wave from your fancy-pants CD player before it entered your equally over-priced amplifier. I even heard an audiophile swearing that it resulted in smoother base and sharper - I think he called them - "accents". They showed the before and after digital streams on an oscillosope and everything.
Audiophile nutjobs are ripe for ripping-off, they deserve everything they get.
Anybody want to buy my antistatic wrist-strap? You need to earth yourself before touching any of your equipment's knobs or else the static will infect your datastream. Only $399.95.

Mathematics of kidney transplant matching

September 4, 2007 3:23pm

Please delete my anonymous comment above - I have now activated my account.(curse those spam filters)

Is a person needing a kidney only allowed to recruit one potential donor or more than one - say family and close friends?

Then, what if more than one of that person's "team of donors" is a match for someone else in the network? Do they all drop out of the ring once the first donation is made?

Can a person needing a kidney "bank" a donation from one of their team or must the donations all occur simultaneously (or within a month)?
