Retrospective of the Amiga Walker

June 18, 2008 8:30pm

Hi everyone,

I had an Amiga 1200 and before that I had a Timex 2068 (when computing was funny and games were addicting).
Nowadays it seems that programmers don't squeeze the machines like they used to.
And users are no longer "into their machines".
Although this is about the Amiga, how many of us who had a Spectrum(or Timex in my case), would make small programs and use those peeks and pokes.
That was fun.

Kind regards,

José

Watercolors of irradiated mutant bugs

April 26, 2008 1:13pm

Hi,

Art is what mostly separates us from the other species and besides its aesthetical side, it can also be used to make us aware of what is going around and educate us.
From my point of view, not only the artist wants to show the ability that insects and other bugs have to provide interesting works of art, but also to alert us about the referred situation as for future ones that may happen.

Kind regards,

José

60% of world's paintings come from one village in China

April 19, 2008 1:19pm

Hi,

I agree with Wind's comment.
Although of course a good painting will please most people from wherever they are; influenced by several variants.
There are indeed very talented artists there and unfortunately they don't earn as they should.
I hope that this changes in the future for the sake of the eastern and western artists.

Take care,

José

Replace GDP with something that reflects real quality of life

March 19, 2008 1:59pm

Dear readers,

Nowadays we relate too much the quality of life with GDP, however if in one hand we have enough money to make everyone happy, on the other the quality of life of many people in this world is far from satisfactory. And I'm not only referring to the known cases of poor regions of the globe. I'm talking about living in a metropolis, where a person works 8 to 12 hours per day, passes alot of time on public transports, dislikes the work and on the return to home people don't smile and ask how was the day, how's life or if that person has any problem and would like to talk about it.
I've come to the conclusion that one of the biggest problems of today's society is the lack of interest that people show upon other's; except maybe when there are negative rumours and things alike.
This is not quality of life. Quality is to work less hours, spending time with friends and living in a world where we know that there isn't someone dying because it doesn't have anything to eat.

Wish you all a good Easter (Páscoa in my language)

Take care,

José
