KSD Solar Diode Window: Keep Heat Where You Want It
November 6, 2007 5:30am
I'm going to go out on a limb and say that I think these are probably useless. In order to make them work, they're going to require a great deal more material and a lot more precision. Otherwise, they'll be prone to leaks and drafts. I'd think that a stock, fewer moving parts, fewer seals and openings argon-filled low-e window will not only be less likely to fail, but will cost enough less that over the lifetime of the window, you wouldn't save any money. And I'll bet the lifetime of that plain old window is longer than our friend the transformer.

Interesting that he had such a hard time selecting photos - I don't think the interface is precise enough yet. Maybe a software update can tweak that.

Of course, with the Mac solution, you get an actual usable computer. The Via and MicroClient Jr. mentioned above are more like thin clients.

And now, the easiest boycott in history: I will never go to Kmart again. Just like I haven't for the last 21 years.
At Target, the shoes have their own price tag which is the only one the cashiers use, so this kind of confusion is impossible.

Still not getting author info in the feeds - we know it's you, Joel, but it'd be nice to have it in the feed in case some other folks decide to contribute.
Also, I didn't have to create two accounts, but I had to log out of the one I created here and log back in over at BB proper, and now I can comment in both places. (Not that I think I should need an account, typekey, openID, blah blah blah.)
Braun Pulsonic Shaver Ad Blitz Coming Soon

Yeah, but if the options are:
a) use a little electricity on a device that will last for several years (electric razor),
b) use no electricity on a device that will be replaced every few days (disposable razor), or
c) use a straight razor and turn my neck into mincemeat
...I'll go with a every time. =-)
Oh, and this whole creating YET ANOTHER ACCOUNT with YET ANOTHER PASSWORD thing sucks. TypeKey? OpenID? Something? PLEASE?
No friends yet.

Cory: this doesn't make any sense. I love you, but I think you're in over your head tech-wise.
The whole point of ITMS DRM is that the file you get is encoded for your use with a special key accessible to iTunes using your unique user ID and password. So every copy of "Die Hard 4" downloaded from the ITMS is a unique version of that file. That's how their DRM works.
DVDs are made from molds. Every single Region 1 WideScreen special edition copy of "Die Hard 4" is the same as every other copy. If they want to use Apple's DRM for an iPod-ready copy on the disc, they'd need a separate mold for every single disc, or they'd have to switch to burning them all on DVD-R or something. Which would be stupid. Alternatively, they could put an iPod playable version that iTunes could add DRM to once you load it in your computer, but to do that they'd still need a non-DRM version on the disc to start with. And they're not going to do that because it would be stupid.
And that's not to mention the fact that you can still rip the original!
The only way this would work is if the special iPod-enhanced copy of the DVD just let you download the movie for free from the ITMS. You may not like it, but you wouldn't have to buy it either.
So what's all the fuss? You wouldn't lose anything and you might get a non-DRM pre-decoded version on every disc. Sounds pretty win-don't lose to me.
