Millions of blogs later and just when you thought that all of the interesting niches may have been filled, someone with 10x more creative talent than the average person comes along and blows that theory out of the water.

Thanks Coop!

1980s Japanese commercial for anti-itch remedy

March 21, 2008 4:16pm

That's pretty funny even without understanding the dialog.

Personally I have always been facinated by Japanese culture.

Earlier this week I posted an article on jcyreus dot Com in response to a news story I heard on NPR about how Japanese businesses are offering people over 65 special discounts and services for surrendering their driver's licenses. Interesting stuff, if you're interested...

America's new subprime shanty-towns

March 18, 2008 5:25am

@ #66 The system is that screwed up, sadly enough.

However, having our govt to pump $ into the economy by bailing out banks will only serve to lengthen our recession, devalue the dollar and create inflation like we have never seen before. It might not be the great depression, but it will be darn close.

Remember 2000-2001 stock market crash as a result of the dot-com boom? That "recession" was short lived, do you know why? Because businesses were allowed to fail (w/o being bailed out) then new opportunities were formed, which rejuvinated the US economy...which is how capitalism is supposed to work. (lots more where that came from on Jcyreus dot Com)

America's war on tourism: airlines to foot the bill for fingerprinting foreigners as the leave the US

March 17, 2008 5:26am

The plan that #4 laid out sounds like a winner to me. :-)

In all seriousness though, Airlines are already strapped as it is in trying to keep prices attainable for the American middle class while paying through the nose for fuel and getting on their knees for the pilot's union. Hitting them with a fee to support a program that clearly doesn't work would be devistating on many levels.

Fingertip biometrics at Disney turnstiles: the Mouse does its bit for the police state

March 15, 2008 5:55am

Ugh...with the price of admission at Disney parks these days, I can understand why they would want to be sure that they get their cash from absolutely EVERYONE that enters their domain. They would otherwise risk leaving thousands per day uncollected. Regardless of the effectiveness of their strategy to verify and confirm their guest's identity, having a system in place that will scare people into not even trying to "trick the system" is good enough to prevent 90% of the people who come to their parks from risking the possibility of making a total a$$ of themselves by getting caught at the turnstyle. BTW - interesting conspiracy theory about our emerging police state.

China sends in troops to quell monks' peaceful protests

March 14, 2008 5:23am

Xeni - Thank you for bringing light to on BB these issues that the Tibetians are once again up against with the Chinese military. It truly crushes me to hear accounts like this and the firsthand experiences of people like Falk (#9) who understand the vast differences between the peaceful culture of Tibet in contrast with [what seems like] the worldwide majority (highlighted by almost daily terrorist attacks).

Record industry's 20 biggest, stupidest mistakes

March 13, 2008 7:10am

At one time, record companies had a purpose and they provided a valuable service to aspiring artists. Today, I'm not so sure. I published an interesting article last month about the relationship between record companies and radio stations. If interested, you can read about it here.

Cheers!
