Mansinthe: Marilyn Manson endorsed absinthe

April 30, 2008 10:05am

That is gross! As one who has louched his share of absinthe, that last line about the Castro district is disgusting. Appropriate analogy though it may be.

Regardless, I love the pomp and circumstance of an absinthe and I'm turned off by the name. Seems frightfully unoriginal for someone who's spent so much time trying to be outside the mainstream.

Man naps in portalet

@21 EH

Unfortunately, I have seen COPS. And the idiots on that show (both sides of the badge) are part of the reason I don't watch reality television.

I didn't ask why this was posted. I don't care why Boing Boing posts things. I imagine they thought it was funny or ludicrous or both and they thought we would too. My question is why the guy was arrested. And I'll allow for the public drunkenness because let's suppose he's not sleeping, but belligerent...then it's a whole other matter. However, I think that this could've been handled differently.

I disagree that my view of the world is Mayberry-esque. But a little less Orwellian couldn't hurt.

Man naps in portalet

I just don't understand why this is an arrestable offense. Wake him up and send him home! He wasn't driving or operating heavy machinery, he wasn't molesting anyone in the park and wasn't exposing himself (drunk or otherwise) to other people.

He got drunk, got sleepy and found a place to take a nap. No wonder the courts are in such backlog.

Man repeatedly calls late wife's voicemail

@RedNikki, could be. My aunt (the one with the answering machine) lives in Alabama. I live in Kentucky.

Man repeatedly calls late wife's voicemail

My aunt does something similar. When my uncle died, his voice was still on the answering machine and she left his voice there as the outgoing message. It's somewhat comforting, and a little odd at the same time, to hear his voice when you get the machine.

Kudos to Verizon for their humanity.

#7 MikeSum32, not to argue with your logic, but your example assumes an entirely USA-centric presumption. Many people fly to other countries on a regular basis for work, leisure, etc. I will admit that the 105,000 mile figure is excessive, but it does seem a little bit more reasonable when figuring in flight distances to London, Cape Town, and/or Beijing from either of the two cities mentioned.

Brilliant cycling awareness safety video

March 27, 2008 9:49am

#3 XRey...#7 Gary is absolutely right. Those guys (and sometimes gals) are completely in the wrong. Cyclists of all abilities should follow basic traffic laws.

Thanks for the video Cory. I signed up for an account so that I could comment on how important it is for both motorists and cyclists to be aware of each other. Every morning I strap on a helmet and head to work with the understanding that I have the same rights, but not the same capabilities as a motorist. Sometimes it's frustrating, but if everyone paid attention, it can be a very rewarding experience.
