I see a day when we can print an entire single-family home's worth of 80% efficiency solar PV shingles for today's equivalent of $1,000. When that day comes most homeowners will make more than they need and sell it back to the tower blocks of the cities.
I agree with your assessment of Hydrogen as a "fuel source," in that it is not a source, but is instead a (inefficient) energy transportation method.
Hybrids don't make much of a difference in "hard" numbers, but they do convey a psychological benefit in that the general public sees more and more hybrid drivers on the road and the sense that mainstream people care about the environment spreads. My argument here is similar to my response to those who point out that Al Gore's jetsetting ways produce X amount of carbon emissions, whereby I respond that Mr. Gore emitted X carbon to enable his advocacy, which spreads awareness to a large number of people who in turn may possibly reduce their own (aggregate) carbon emissions 1000X.

I actually like the possibilities to commit civil disobedience the Eye-Fi creates. Imagine jailbreaking your iPhone, and sharing its EDGE connection over wifi with your camera (using something like srelay.) As long as you reduce the rez, the pics should upload pretty quickly and you don't have to worry about them being confiscated.

I only want to buy it if the act of wearing it transmogrifies my face into an angry, grey war-robot.

Have you thought about the USBcell AA batteries with the built-in USB ports? They're only 1300mAH, but the cool/convenience factor is off the charts.

Joel, I agree with you. This looks like an H.R. Giger creation grown fat on cheeseburgers and filtered through the lens of a mediocre industrial design student's brain.

Cory, I initially had a knee-jerk reaction to your forecast, as I am one of those for whom FB is "pure crack." However after some reflection I am inclined to agree with you on some points.
Mostly I think what you are saying is that there are those of us who see through the hype ("15 Billion!?!",) and once the rest of the world does too, FB will shrivel (somewhat; I disagree that it will implode.)
As for the creepy people, I, like some of the commenters above, have no compunction with saying "no" to friend requests, and I also actively prune.
Lastly, FB is a very useful place to organize real-world events, "get out and live!", then post pics and have fun commenting.
