#10: Wait, are you saying we should leave cans of Spam laying all over Boston?
Now that would be a weapon of mass destruction, wouldn't it?
... make sure to open them all before leaving them, of course!
Laser-cut book is a scale model of artist's house

I'm a little bit embarrassed that this is being picked up here - I knew very little about this project, or for that matter Eliasson himself, but I was really interested in the laser cutting!
After this post and several emails from readers, I learned that a copy of this book was on display at the Walker Art Center here in my hometown of Minneapolis, just blocks from my office. Quite serendipitous.

Eric Joisel will be at the Pacific Coast Origami Convention starting this Thursday, November 8th, in Vancouver BC. More information is available at the convention website:
His work, along with many other origami creators, is on display at the Pendulum Gallery in downtown Vancouver, as part of the currently running "Origami Masters Exhibition".
You can see more photos of his work and of the exhibition at the flickr page of Joseph Wu, native Vancouverite and full-time commercial origami artist:

I'm attending this convention myself, and I'm really looking forward to meeting Joisel in person after seeing all his marvelous creations over the years.
And for the commenter above who asked about it being cut: no, there are no cuts, no rips, no tears, no glue, it's just one big folded square sheet of paper. Modern origami is mindblowingly different than the cranes that we all folded in elementary school, and Joisel is most definitely a master of it.

Brian Chan is an amazing origami artist - he's one of a new vanguard of creators who are pushing boundaries everywhere.
You can check out some of his work on Flickr, too:

His origami version of the MIT "Mens et Manus" logo is absolutely fantastic.

Well, in the origami tessellation world, we normally refer to anything folded using the same general techniques as "a tessellation", even though it might not be one specifically. Part of it is that John could fold this so it is an endless repeating pattern of space invaders, but he hasn't due to matters of scale (and believe me, that would take a seriously long time!)
Part of the fun of creating such things is stepping beyond the strict geometric patterns that might seem obvious, and seeing what else can be done within the confines of a single sheet of paper.
So strictly, yes, this isn't a tessellation itself, but in the small niche world of folks who create these sort of things we tend to just refer to them all generally. Specifics get kind of complicated :)
By far my favorite piece from John McKeever is this "Stellated Dodecagon":
