Whedon fans vow to save Dollhouse from cancellation -- eight months before initial airdate
May 26, 2008 8:48am
This publicity stunt seems to be working.
Derren Brown live in London's West End -- astounding!
May 12, 2008 4:15am
I'm glad to see Derren publicised so well on BoingBoing. If his work and attitude doesn't qualify as wonderful nothing does! If you think you MIGHT enjoy his book "Tricks of the Mind", definately order it (Amazon UK is the only source last I checked). He is a very good and witty writer and the book is a pleasure to read.
Against Ben Stein's wishes, lizards rapidly evolve after introduction to island
April 23, 2008 3:09pm
About slamming Ben Stein: he deserves to be slammed for trying to ridicule one of the greatest minds on earth, Richard Dawkins.
Dawkins' books are supreme examples of intelligence, clarity and honesty of thought, expressed with crystal clear prose.
I hate to see such a guy attacked by people who don't even understand the concepts of evolution, but despise anyone who dares not respect their little mythological and superstitious view of the world.
Public relations-officer for Southern Illinois University College Republicans sends misogynistic hate mail and is forced to resign

I'm guessing that BoingBoing did the redaction,
so as not to give publicity to the website he mentions.
Sunspots don't cause global warming, people do
April 5, 2008 7:47am
Don't assume that all global warming "denialists" are also creationist types. I'm skeptical about the global warming thing, and I am also an atheist who despises the creationist kind of mentality.
Just thought I'd share...
Sunspots don't cause global warming, people do
April 4, 2008 8:23pm
Does anybody here remember the scary predictions made in the 70's by Paul Erhlich and others? Their detractors were considered by some to be the equivalent of today's "denialists".
Their detractors turned out to be right.
In regards to global warming, let's just see what happens. And let's hope that stupid decisions are not made in the meantime.
US Peso deathwatch: Thai tailors switch to advertising in Euros
March 20, 2008 10:13am
Agreed, Deoh and Bret. There seems to be a bit of glee whenever there is an opportunity to post a story about the dollar getting weaker. Why?
UK farmer built illegal castle behind haybales
February 1, 2008 6:12pm
So the giant pile of hay bales is OK, but the castle is so offensive it must be reduced to a pile of rubble by the state.
Music producers mixing for MP3
December 29, 2007 9:41pm
The following happened about 5 years after the introduction of CDs.
A friend of mine ordered the CD version of a favorite album, because he wanted the absolute best sound available. To compare the two, and to see how much better the CD was, he first played a selection from the vinyl album. Then, he played the same song on the CD, on the same system with the same speakers.
In comparison to the vinyl, the CD sounded thin, insubstantial, kind of transparant, no "oomph". The record had sounded rich, solid, and more "there". We were puzzled as to why the more advanced CD with it's greater capabilities just didn't sound as good as the record. After reading the article I'm starting to understand why.
Engraved Victorian tentacle-horrors from Dan Hillier
November 18, 2007 1:33pm
This illustration goes wonderfully with a great Robyn Hitchcock song called "Victorian Squid" on the album "You and Oblivion".
If you don't know Robyn, you should check him out!
