"Medical necessity" defense a success in Texas pot possession trial

March 31, 2008 9:11am

@Trye S

I knew Sam as well, though we were just acquaintances. He used to come out to some of the punk shows I was involved with.

I had heard that Blackburn's office was owned by someone else now. I suppose because suddenly there were issues with the "Freedom Wall" getting constantly painted over when it'd always been a free zone for the graffiti writers before.

Anyway, always good to run into neighbors online.

Circuit City does $12K worth of damage to a car while installing a GPS, won't pay up

CC busted up my dash pretty badly earlier this year as well, though I sadly didn't follow through enough to make a story out of it. I was told I'd be contacted by insurance the following day and, barring that, the store manager would call me. Neither happened. I was in the store a few days later and spoke to him again, was again promised a personal call after checking with insurance. Still never happened. A week later, same thing. Last couple times I tried I couldn't even get a manager on the line but was promised callbacks.

I had bigger problems at the time and just let it die, but I figure I should at least warn people that this story isn't an isolated incident.

Hey again Pusgums! I was just going to say the same thing. I've been in AMA for 8 years now and the work Blackburn has done is definitely noticed and appreciated by many of us. I believe he relocated away from the Panhandle recently but it's good to see he's still working cases in the area.

Speaking of which, Xeni, I've been wondering how the veganism was going?

40 bucks for mostly single color designs on a simple $2 shirt. Even with minimal experience you could make most of these yourself.

Skull Helmet

You guys are no fun! I'm considering this for a friend in the local Roller Derby League. Sure, she couldn't see, but she'd be so badass looking it wouldn't even matter!

Soyabella Soy Milk Maker

If anyone sees this again, the price per GALLON of soymilk using beans from the above link is hovering right around a buck. Where I live that is a $5.50 saving per week!

I ordered a Soyajoy the day this was posted and got it yesterday, and made my first and second batches today. Worked amazingly!

I'm ok with soy juice :-)

Anyway I forgot to mention that with the Soyajoy, there are options for both cold and hot processing, so you can indeed create raw nut milks (or soy). Not sure if the nicer looking unit you wrote about has this option or not, though it seems likely.

Amazon has the Soyabella for $97.99 but Soyajoy is a pretty well respected product. Thanks for writing about these. Reminded me that I need to get myself an X-mas present!

I always just tie a bandana around my leg when needed. I would lose those little things too easily.

Woman attacks Comcast customer service keyboard with hammer

Yet another story about Comcast's terrible service. I'm moving to an area soon where my only options for broadband will be Comcast or Sprint EVDO, for about the same price and roughly the same amount of evil. Not sure which way I'm going to end up going yet.
