Gale Banks: Diesel and DIY
January 22, 2008 9:27am
That mileage isn't piss poor at all. Typical fuel economy for consumer diesel truck engines is around 12-15mpg depending on load and use. 24mpg is pretty damn good, especially considering the necessary fuel system adjustments for that huge turbo hanging off the side.
Banks is a very well known and established Diesel truck tuner. Their entire business is built around tweaking fuel maps and engine configurations for more power and efficiency. It's no surprise that his vehicles are doing so well. I just wish he'd branch off into small diesel commuter car engines.

#48: So does that mean the news channels can't show clips with Ford vehicles in them?
Documentary use and the Press are given greater protection when showing copyrighted or trademarked content. This is how the paparazzi can get away with selling images of famous people without any legal clearance. So no, it doesn't mean the news can't show clips with Ford vehicles in them.

Speaking of "whiney self-righteous bitches", you sure are upset about a bunch of strangers' opinions on your friend's tattoo. Is it really so strange that people might think less of him for getting a symbol like that branded permanently on his body? C'mon. If it was a stupid mistake he made earlier in his life, say so. If not, I'm going to continue thinking he's a piece of trash and one hell of a painter.
Nintendo Wii hacked -- homebrew games ahoy!
December 30, 2007 1:45pm
"At the very least, game companies should provide a legit means for writing custom code. If it means that Nintendo has to approve it, whatever - there are plenty of awesome games and apps that would be nice to see on the Wii."
Nintendo does have a plan for this: WiiWare. It's specifically for indie developers to get their work out to a huge audience without having to worry about all the red-tape and financial junk that goes along with full retail development. Nintendo checks for bugs and sets the price, but leaves everything else up to you, including getting your application rated by the ESRB. Unfortunately, they've released almost no further information on it.

Cory, if you're friends with Jeff Bezos, why don't you ask him yourself? Seems like the easiest way to get to the bottom of all this.
Walking Dead 7: The Calm Before -- compelling, pitiless zombie comic
November 21, 2007 3:41pm
I created an account just to comment on this. Walking Dead is one of the best graphic novels I've ever read. It's sort of depressing when you get through a new issue and realize there's nothing else out there to read that even comes close. I'd love to see HBO make it a series, as I think they're the only ones who could do it correctly.

I have to say that I'm a little disturbed by all the nasty, negative comments thrown out at those who choose elective cosmetic surgery. I can understand that viewpoint, but much of what has been said sounds extremely ignorant. There is a whole spectrum of motivations and results and to focus on the absolute worst and ignore the rest is pretty lame.
