No, I have one friend that does not like it. You two are probably the only ones though. ~

I will admit that I didn't like Fargo after hearing all sorts of hype from my friends who love The Big Lebowski and thought Fargo was equally as good. I'm from Minnesota, maybe the over-done accents got to me or something.

Sharon Stone suggests earthquake in China caused by "karma"

May 29, 2008 2:11pm

She sounds more like she was just posing a question she was thinking about for people to ponder on their own; "Is that Karma?", rather than saying the more definitive, "The earthquake was caused by Karma". I see a difference.

This is way overblown and doesn't even compare to the many stupid things that Pat Robertson / Jerry Falwell have said with a lot less ambiguity.

No doubt the seats will be filled on Sunday and these bobble 'feet' will be on Ebay for inflated prices on Monday.

International ferry terrorism search called off: they were just tourists

May 8, 2008 12:01pm

I think this could fall under the 'damned if you do, damned if you don't' catagory.

So the captian of the ferry (who presumably sees 100's or 1,000's of tourists and locals everyday) sees people behaving suspiciously enough for him to report what he saw to the authorities who find out who the people are and determines through their investigation that they are not a threat.

Great! I want the government following up on this sort of thing.

There would also be outrage if the government did nothing and ended up causing loss of life through their inaction, no?

Certainly you wouldn't exepect a law enforcement agency to just ignore a report of suspcious activity when it's their very job to follow up on these sort of things?

There is no pleasing some people.

Photo of honor system at bookstore in Ojai, CA

First post on Boing Boing!

Here in Minneapolis, the light rail train system works pretty much on the honor system. There are ticket machines at the stations, but no gates, turnstyles, or employees checking who gets on the train.

Occasionally, the Transit Police will get on and walk the train cars to check riders for tickets but that's it. The fine is over $100 if you get caught without a ticket and I've seen a few people get pulled off the train, but all in all, it's a great system for us!

Also, the trains are pretty and shiny!
