Only Death is Real
...this death metal slogan makes sense given these pictures. All that we've done, worried, lied, cheated, succeeded, thrived, loved, hated, defecated, eaten, spent, or made is gone in an instant.
The cold eternity of the universe invades, as beautiful as life. We are (and have always been) nothing.

Now pride in your "heritage" is racist.
I'm a Jew and I take pride in my heritage. It's not intended to harm or offend others, but sometimes, people are offended by non-offensive things.
My parents participated in the Civil Rights struggle of the 1960s (and the marijuana legalization struggle of the 1990s) and their parents barely escaped Hitler's ovens.
You're telling me that "heritage" is racism? I am thoroughly offended.

Antinous:
"War and Sodomy" is a refrain by a band named Weltmacht who are not NSBM but use some Nazi iconography, interspersed with Satanic imagery and praise of sodomy.
Then there is the genius rant of Paul Ledney...well, I can't post it here, so google "paul ledney" "Rip the sacred flesh" and you'll find the text.
Metal is, in fact, quite enamored of sodomy, and I'll leave that up to your interpretation. From the band Sodom, to Morbid Angel's praise of the act on "Blessed Are the Sick," to Blood's "Sodomize the Weak," the list goes on!

Metal heads in general aren't too bright.
I think that's a gross generalization.
Danzig was originally a punk musician, with his band the Misfits, and if you can find nationalist imagery there, please point it out. I don't see if. If you'd mentioned Infester, Graveland, Burzum, Darkthrone, Absurd or Gontyna Kry, then I'd say you have a point.
I think a lot of metal is like Slayer and Motorhead, both of whom used deathsheads and other Nazi imagery, just like Judas Priest. They're not endorsing anything. They're singing about it because they're obsessed with murder, darkness, horror, natural selection, war, mayhem and sodomy.
Burroughs was too, and I've never encountered anything racist in his work. Maybe I don't know where to look. Can you post some pointers?

I think leaving them in there is the most humane option. Whatever future they have chosen for themselves will come to pass, whether death or
life. There are already enough people on earth that we don't have to worry about saving every single one from his or her own choices.
Boing Boing's Moderation Policy
March 30, 2008 2:46pm
This is from a community I'm part of:
There's two ways to think about moderation:
1) The liberal-democratic way. Everyone is enabled to do anything, unless it turns out to offend someone, and then we condemn them and blacklist them. We call this reductive logic.
2) The fascist-holistic way. We judge everything for whether or not it is productive to some mission. Therefore, some things are clearly not wanted and others are removed "like deadwood" and not "like punishment/judgment." We call this goal-oriented, process-based logic.
We are a hybrid of the two. On this forum, as every forum I've run or had a hand in running since 1987, we believe in "free speech," but we recognize this has limits. If you posted a member's home address, real name, credit history, and penis length, we'd remove that.
I think it's a sensible alternative view of the situation, one which comes from a more extreme viewpoint but also carries the same idea. It's not based on ownership but on community as an idea.

Republicans are not conservatives so much as they are shills for business.
Religion is a business. Ask Scientology.
Here in Houston, we have a former sports stadium that is now a major church, and 18,000 people flood it every Sunday.
Their religion is little more than Ayn Rand-style "you deserve what you have, think positive and you'll get more."
Was Rand a rightist? She always struck me as being more socially liberal than, say, G.W.B.
Jacob Holdt: American Pictures 1970-1975

I wish people would keep focus on this.
Capitalism does not benefit everyone.
Of course, since most people are idiots... do we want them to benefit?
In other words, are we making sure we starve idiots and not good people?

You live in a system where every individual is trying to get ahead by reporting dramatic results. It's a hype pyramid.
A few bankers saw a way to get themselves ahead, at the expense of the system and others, and they did it. It's sociopathic. But even more sociopathic is that people are now finding ways to profit from this disaster. Could it be that our society produces sociopathic thinking?
Boing Boing's Moderation Policy

Interesting comment from people dedicated to an entirely different style of moderation:
There's two ways to think about moderation:
1) The liberal-democratic way. Everyone is enabled to do anything, unless it turns out to offend someone, and then we condemn them and blacklist them. We call this reductive logic.
2) The fascist-holistic way. We judge everything for whether or not it is productive to some mission. Therefore, some things are clearly not wanted and others are removed "like deadwood" and not "like punishment/judgment." We call this goal-oriented, process-based logic.

Unlike moronic liberal-democratic conservatives, we recognize that free speech has inherent limits. Our goal is to permit all speech that is not destructive, and yet to remove "as in deadwood" and not "as in punishment/judgment" things which fail to meet our uber-goal, which is to glorify the intelligence and Romantic in metal.
I think we have to admit that moderators need to be fascists, otherwise the legions of idiots, spammers, pedophiles, jerks, whores, sluts, fools, morons, gov't agents and crypto-capitalists will submerge us all in their lowest common denominator filth.
