We're just moving away from the whole state-sponsored space religion aspect, toward a more, uh, piratical type of socio-eroticism.
Maybe within twenty years the economics and politics will all come together for real. (Because, so far as I can tell, all the necessary technology allowing humans basic access to the solar system was invented back in the nineteen-forties.)
