Grand Theft Auto IV thoughts

May 30, 2008 10:07am

I'm glad you threw in that last line. I thought you might be getting all mushy on us.

This is what a broken Amazon Kindle looks like

May 26, 2008 9:01am

I like the idea of this, but I can't pay even close to $400 for it.

Is that a video of the Leroy Jenkins incident on the Zune?

Mazda destroys 4,703 shiny new cars worth $100 million

April 29, 2008 4:10pm

I agree with Mr Josh. Plus, to all those shouting 'Wasteful!', I imagine that everything that can be recycled, will be recycled.

7-year-old boy removed from father and placed in state custody over mistaken order of hard lemondade

April 29, 2008 2:10pm

I thought for a long time that it was normal lemonade. I'm 22 now, but at the time, I asked my father if I could try some and he just looked at me funny.

Magnetique Shelves great for holding the gadgets you don't want

April 29, 2008 2:06pm

"Hey, anyone want a broken promotional wristwatch sporting the logo of a CES attendee from Shenzhen that you've never heard of?"

I do.

Untitled 1

April 24, 2008 7:25pm

This seems like a test of what would happen if the internet had no leaders. Instead of many people responding to one initial topic, they are left to communicate what ever they wish without any initial focus. I think it is safe to say that in the event that we, the common folk, are left to ourselves, all hell breaks loose, and chaos ensues.

Or Mr. Frauenfelder could have accidentally posted an empty article.

Classic Jobs on Microsoft

April 22, 2008 9:08am

I dislike Apple's marketing strategy of "Look how bad Windows is." I know they aren't the only company that does it, but the Mac vs PC ads just seem rude. I would rather hear about the benefits of a mac, rather than the disadvantages of a PC.

I'm also bitter about one of the more recent ads, where 'mac' mentions that it is a bad thing that pc works on different hardware.

The Fami-Card turns an NES cart into an NES

April 22, 2008 5:03am

I think this is really cool. I want one, if only for the sheer portability. Plus it looks awesome.

Shakespeare's Pulp Fiction

April 19, 2008 3:08pm

I thought this was pretty funny, but it's about all I could stomach. Any more, and I'd take people at their word that it was funny.

Asus Eee PC gets bigger screen, drives

April 16, 2008 7:28am

Thanks. Second question: If I buy the Linux version, is there anything preventing me from installing XP on it myself, if I have my own license?

I think that "Who's on First" is the funniest comedy sketch of all time, internet or television.

The Unsurprising Psychedelic Inspiration for Dune

April 4, 2008 3:23pm

I really, really liked Dune. It's neat to hear his inspiration.

University Logo Carved Onto Human Hair with Focused Ion Beam

April 3, 2008 4:57pm

Why is the logo's orientation different in each image. Are these two different hairs, is this not the actual image, or do I not understand?

I think it's really incredible, that's why I'm curious.

Fun book: The Modern Con Man -- How to Get Something for Nothing

April 1, 2008 9:12am

I'm a big fan of "Catch me if you Can." It is very interesting to see how this guy pulled off some amazing cons. It's also a movie, loosely based on the true story. I liked both.

Cory and Randall "XKCD" Munroe at 3PiCon in Springfield, MA, Aug 22-24

March 27, 2008 9:23am

I can only hope that you have the good sense to wear goggles and a red cape.

Gearshift made from jar of pee

February 18, 2008 2:44pm

Judging by the color of the container, I would bet that there is only water in there. Unless it was confirmed to be urine, then never mind.

Video of Chuck Jones drawing Wile E. Coyote

January 18, 2008 11:10am

I always considered Chuck Jones to be the best cartoon animator from my childhood. He knew what was up.

Woman ticketed after goats caught mating

December 21, 2007 6:28am

I heard about this at work a few days ago(I'm from Oklahoma). The neighbors had apparently been bickering over it for some time. The neighbor found an old law that was created as the city was expanding. Kind of a 'Please keep your cattle out of Main St.' The lady lives out in the middle of nowhere, but a more recent law puts her just within city limits. Hence the ticket. Kind of a jerk thing to do, in my opinion...not that I approve of goat procreation in my front yard either.

Wireless Tasers Fired from Shotguns

December 10, 2007 4:20pm

@#2 I agree. I would much rather they shoot someone with a real gun.

I think it's good that they are at least trying for a nonlethal alternative

December 9, 2007 10:39am

I am very unoriginal. My first pick is always cayton....because that's my name.

11 slaughterhouse workers ill, inhaled pig-brain matter suspected

December 8, 2007 11:57am

11 people over 8 months?! Why couldn't this be any other known illness/disease? If the people at the 'head table' are working together, they are more likely to pass illnesses between themselves, right?

I think using this as a reason to not eat meat is absurd. I think more information is necessary.

It's Tractor Fight Thursday!

December 6, 2007 10:02pm

I wish I could ramp a tractor merely by pulling up.

That was indeed fantastic. ESPECIALLY to the Danger Zone.

Music snob t-shirts

December 3, 2007 11:12am

I made one for my technical writing class that had two circles with nothing touching. The first circle said "People I like" and the second said "you." My teacher was not amused

Collector asks for your 1968 pennies

November 30, 2007 9:23am

If he gets even a fraction of the pennies available, that this will have become a fabulous get-rich-quick scheme. I know he said they will never be cashed in, but still.

.....as such, I am going to start collecting pennies. Anything from the '90s will do.

Cyber Familator Lite Adapter Plays Famicom Cartridges on DS

November 26, 2007 12:03pm

The chip for the Famicom and the SNES is the same, just with a different case. So you probably could play all of your SNES games too, unless I am missing something.

October 10, 2007 12:19pm

Counterfeit $1 million bill

October 10, 2007 12:12pm

@DAVID PESCOVITZ (#17):

The first half of the serial number (JN 316) is most likely in reference to the bible passage, John 3:16.

....kind of depressing knowing that I wasn't MIT material 138 years ago.
