Pros and cons of growing up Amish

She might be surprised to learn that regular "English" kids don't have many rights that their parents don't let them have. It's a crazy ol' world.
Devo sues McDonalds
June 30, 2008 8:14am
It's obviously a Devo rippoff. Why would anyone argue for McDonald's to be able to use the image of an individual (or in this case several individuals) without their permission?
It's been established long ago that people have a right to how their image is used in relation to selling a product. How is this any big difference?
Plus, it's a tossup between which is more evil, McDonald's or American Idol...The people involved with the production of this should have known better.
Google-themed sari at Delhi mall

This reminds me of the "clothes of the future" in Idiocracy with product logos all over them.
Welcome to the future!
FCC wants a magic, porn-free wireless Internet
June 25, 2008 6:56am
Let's just say we all agree on what "porn" is...which we don't. There still isn't a program out there that can "know" porn when it sees it, 100 percent of the time. But this point is moot, since if you had 500 different people in the same room, you'd get 500 definitions of what porn is, or isn't.
Good luck with your "porn-free" wireless interenet, FCC!
It sounds like this idea was hatched by some 80 year old spinster who knows nothing about computers, the world, or yes, porn.
Mid-life Crysis: HP Blackbird 002 "Exhilaration Edition"
June 18, 2008 8:07am
I was one of those geeks who bought an overpriced gaming pc, but it wasn't terribly overpriced at about 3 grand on an Alienware Area 51. You can spend that much on a tricked out Dell, HP, or whatever. I could have gotten someone to build me something like it, I guess, but I didn't know who to go to, nor did I feel I had the expertise to do it myself. Anyway, since then, I've become proficient with adding cards, etc, and upgrading it myself.
Blistered and peeling Superman Museum sign
June 12, 2008 8:20am
I really like this photo. The subject matter of Superman, but weathered and hardly readable, seems a little more than symbolic.
I think the one that's maybe supposed to be Christopher Reeves era Superman looks a little like C. Thomas Howell.
Patching ancient walls with legos

If you have a problem with the way people pluralize brand names and want to incorporate the rules of grammar intended by the manufacturer, you might be right, but you really need to find something else to worry about.
Sort of like getting upset if someone asks if you have a box of Kleenexes instead of a box of Kleenex.
"But Mr. Kleenex says Kleenex is both singular and plural!"
Get a life.
Ford dealership uses bigoted radio ads to sell cars
May 27, 2008 9:19am
Great thing about free speech is, you can tell someone to "sit down and shut up," but your words don't make them do it.
I'm gonna call this Ford dealership and excercise my freedom of speech and ask about the possibility of ordering a Mustang with chrome wheels, red metallic paint, XM radio, a towing package, and a fish symbol on the trunk and then tell them to go f@ck a grizzly bear! (Too bad it won't actually make them do it, but it'll be fun, anyway!)
Videos of the worst pop songs ever

How about "Jesus Take the Wheel" by Carrie Underwood? That's some bad stuff, there, homies, but maybe it hasn't been around long enough to gain that kind of infamy that the "Afternoon Delights" and "Sugar, Sugars" (by the Archies) of this world have garnered.
I would also like to nominate "I Hope You Dance" by Lea Ann Womack. Simply atrocious.
Serial killers answer letters from guy pretending to be a 10-year-old

to #68, Bobo: I'm pretty sure they don't let inmates get on the internet. They do let inmates have "profiles" on websites, but a friend on the outside has to send all corresponing messages through the mail to said inmate. So I think the theory that Charles Manson is spending a lot of time on the internet and messing around with codes and crypto is a little far fetched...or to put it succinctly, "Charlie don't surf."
Waiting rooms for hitchhikers - lost innovation from 1939
April 18, 2008 8:12am
I think Ted Bundy pretty much "ruined it" for hitchhikers. Not an instance of psychos hitchhiking, but definitely one of a crazy person picking up hitchhikers.
I'm sure hitchin' can be both fun and interesting to all those involved, when it goes according to plan, but I'd sure hate to find the exception to the rule. That's probably the space in my brain that's "my mom" talking, though.
Woman goes on YouTube to air divorce grievances
April 16, 2008 1:12pm
I watched about 20 seconds of it and saw how slowly the bar was moving and realized there must be a lot more of her jabbering like an imbecile, so I watched some Nick Cave videos instead. By the way, that woman has a case of the Crazy Eye!
New York Sun column: "Why I Let My 9-Year-Old Ride the Subway Alone"
April 11, 2008 1:15pm
The truth of the matter is, there is danger everywhere. The truth of the matter also is, it's not very likely to "get us." If someone really wanted to, he could snatch Little Elrod on his train ride from the museum or the hotdog stand. But some maniac could also snatch one of us "grown-ups," too, with enough planning and duct tape. That's not to say you shouldn't try to be careful and use your common sense, but people need to get a grip and live their lives.
No friends yet.

I really enjoyed Fallout 1 & 2, but there were some bug issues with one of them, I don't remember which (2, I'm thinking). I also played Wasteland back in the days of the Commodore 64 and appreciate that they kept some of the same humor and and thematic approach. I had heard that Fallout was kind of an unofficial tribute or sequel to Wasteland in internet rumor-dom.
Anyway, as long as it isn't another "Brotherhood of Steel," and is a little more geared toward thinking adults with a sense of humor, rather than 15 year old boys, it should be good.
