Homophobic news site changes athlete Tyson Gay to Tyson Homosexual

June 30, 2008 11:56am

Haha, this reminds me about when I had typeit4me auto-replacing "crash" for "unexpectedly quit". And then one day I was chatting with someone regarding a plane crash, and of course it came out "plane unexpectedly quit".

Bank of America enrolls you in "Credit Protection Plus" without your permission

June 30, 2008 11:48am

BOA is the worst bank I unfortunately do business with, I HATE HATE HATE them. Always getting calls from them for some crap or another. I never got called by Wells Fargo, my main bank, until I got a call this month. Hopefully that isn't the start of a new trend.

Goodbye, George Carlin

June 23, 2008 10:49am

Huh, I didn't realize when they made Deadwood, that they were just trying to use all 7 words.

James Lileks goes to Disneyworld

May 20, 2008 11:07pm

I'm not a Disney fan, but I'm a Disneyland fan. Not of the whimsical fantasy stuff, but the logistics and how it works, that's always interested me.

Pop-bottle snap-on cup makes ice cream floats on demand

May 16, 2008 2:37pm

Sigh, now I'm sitting here in 100 degree weather and I wish I hit the local A&W for a float.

Kooky 60s comic book scan: Super Green Beret

Space aliens invade Canada

May 1, 2008 2:49pm

Oh sure, there'd be people all over this if this was the Virgin Mary or Jesus. Hmmm...well, there ARE 2 in the picture....maybe they were aliens all along.

Anyway, great story, I'll have to save the link to send to others the next time Jesus or Mary show up.

Disneyland bans pictures in its parking lots

April 22, 2008 10:39am

I've heard of the "professional" rule before, there's been chatter in past years on a San Jose Sharks mailing list. Some people like to take pictures at the game, and sometimes they may get walked up to, usually I think the determining factor was how big the lens was. Bigger isn't always better. :)

Funny/Creepy old comic book ad

April 20, 2008 5:57pm

Haha, that reminds me to much of Brak and Space Ghost singing MINKEY BOODLE.

Celebrity robot tee

April 20, 2008 10:30am

Eh, I coughed up the lung for the robot shirt, what the heck, already spent a ton of money on new computer equipment this weekend. :) I'd be tempted to get the alien shirt if it didn't cost so much. 1 for $30 is a bit high, 2 for 40 or maybe 45, I'd have bit on.

Coachella by the numbers

April 17, 2008 12:04am

That's funny, the 2 bands I'd want to see the most are on the ends, Justice and Pendulum. I think I'd wantto see Pendulum the most, they just haven't hit it big in the US yet. I only know them because I listen to XFM off the net.

Nuclear detonators sent to Taiwan were from 1962

March 27, 2008 11:23pm

I think Battlestar Galactica has taught us that it's always a good idea to keep some old-tech around, just in case the robots come to kill us. And they will. (Thank you Old Glory!)

High school project video uses SFW scenes from 1980s porn video

Possessed: a documentary about hoarders

March 10, 2008 7:35pm

Interesting, it hits home a little bit, I have a little bit of #2 and #4. I collect too much tech stuff, CDs, and DVDs. At least I got out of comics a while back, heh. Sigh, there's always some new tech toy to buy.

Wow, that FC video was awsome.

Best Buy won't refund "hard drive" that turned out to be a box of bathroom tiles

October 29, 2007 4:04pm

I bought an Xbox once from BB off the shelf, I'd expect it to be new. I got it home, noticed a few scratches on it which got me looking at it, but I thought it was still new...until I popped in a Halo disc and found someone's saved games on the drive. Looking at the bottom of the unit I figured out someone bought an xbox and swapped the serial number sticker on it and returned this one, cuz the sticker was slightly peeling off.

I took it back and exchanged it. Hasn't stopped me from buying at BB I'm afraid to say, just because sometimes they have what I want at the prices I want.

HOWTO wash your hands and beat the flu

October 16, 2007 6:35pm

It seems like these days you have to go out of your way to find a non-anti-bacterial liquid soap.
