New York Yankees ban sunblock "to fight terrorism" -- sell replacements at $5/oz

July 24, 2008 9:37am

The Orioles do the same thing. We had our sun block taken away when going through the gate. The only difference is that we didn't even have the option of buying any once we were inside Camden Yards. The sun was so bad, we ended up leaving in the 4th inning with sunburns.

@entropymd - Yeah, I'm sure. DC is no safer then AC. You're right, it's the current that kills, not the voltage. The reason people think DC is safer is because most of the DC they come into contact with is the low voltage, low current variety. For instance, electrical power on a USB bus is around 5volts/500mA.

That’s not the kind of DC that Edison used.

I'm an electronics tech and the worst I've ever been zapped was not with AC, but 28 volts DC. It knocked me back like I was physically hit with a heavy object. I've even been kissed by voltages up to 460v AC. Nothing hurts as much as high current DC.

At least with AC, it's easier to break away because of the way the voltage is alternating. With DC, it's constant.

Daily Show writer explains writers' strike -- if digital content isn't worth anything, how come Viacom is suing YouTube for $1 billion?

@ Everybody

I understand the goofy way that Hollywood does it's accounting. It's just that I've read a lot said about how much money TV shows are going to be making on the Internet. Writers want a percentage of the revenue from the advertising featured on streaming video even if streaming video is a financial loser for the networks. I think that's why they treat it was a promotion. The idea is to get viewers to watch the programing when it runs on TV.

According to what I've read on the WGA.org website, the writers believe that TV and the Internet are same thing. That the Internet *is* TV.

Nothing could be farther from the truth.

The problem I have with the writer's demands is that they always want their cut off the top. It doesn't matter if online content will eventually make any money or not. They want something not based on net earnings, but on the gross.

Furniture made from aviation salvage

The chair shown in the photo isn't from a B-52 ejection seat. They have more of a square-shaped back. They don't come to a point like this one. This one looks too flimsy to even be an ejection seat.
