This happened once with the LA Times:

Los Angeles Times critic Mark Swed wrote that the opera "Die Frau Ohne Schatten" is "an incomparably glorious and goofy pro-life paean." But when the review ran in the paper, pro-life had been changed to anti-abortion. "Swed was reportedly mortified, since the opera is not remotely about abortion," Kevin Roderick writes in LA Observed.
