July 15, 2008 1:28am

So its a phone from the makers of the two things (pens and lighters)that are most likely to end up going home in someone else's pocket.

Indie platformer videogames primer

June 25, 2008 7:41pm

I'll have to put my hand up for n here.

It's got a great visual aesthetic, lovely fluid motion and fiendish level design.

The ragdoll when you die is nice to, which is good because you'll be seeing that over and over. But when you finally perfect your run through a level, ah the sweet joy. Ninjas FTW!

Possibly Chinese truck crashes at 40MPH, practically vaporizes

June 25, 2008 6:20pm

I don't see the problem. That crumple zone worked perfectly, leaving the cargo completely undamaged.

Tanita Ironman Segmental Body Composition Monitor: It's a fancy scale

June 21, 2008 7:47am

Glanced at the headline and picture and thought it was the chestplate from the Tanita Ironman Segmental Body Armour. So let down.

Kill a man with the Unbreakable Umbrella

June 19, 2008 2:32pm

The surest way to kill a man with an unbreakable umbrella is to stab him in the guts, and then open it.

Ha! Nice Photoshop, Texas Instruments... Beware Non-Euclidean Sharks!

June 19, 2008 2:10pm

They are horrors of the soul, and yet, they are real. I saw them for a ghastly moment. For a moment I stood on the other side. I stood on the pale gray shores beyond time and space. In an awful light that was not light, in a silence that shrieked, I saw them.

I will be playing Team Fortress 2 tonight

June 18, 2008 4:05pm

That video truly is amazingly amazing. Are there more of these?

Shutz, that is an awesomely awesome idea. Totally better thing for Valve to be doing than a movie.

Steampunk jewelry and sculpture: love the gears

June 14, 2008 9:25pm

Very nice stuff, and there's a note on them.

No antique pocket watches were harmed in my jewelry making as I only have pieces and parts.

Microsoft patents "digital manners policy"

June 12, 2008 2:27pm

@DCULBERSON

I'd assume the "no pictures" flag would be set by default. If you want to take photos at home you'll have to buy a DMP transmitter and keep your license up to date.

Keyboard design lacks keys

June 12, 2008 1:56pm

Haptic, possibly.

It'd be awful to use something like this all the time, but if it's just for when your in the bath, I could see that working.

The Star Wars musical floppy

June 11, 2008 2:02am

God, that is sooo nerdy.

I love it.

MIDIbox SID turns C64 into analog synth

June 11, 2008 1:56am

I;m so pissed I chucked my 64 not that long ago because the keyboard had died. I didn't realise then what awesome things could be done with the chips and the case.
4 voice stereo polyphonic and oh so glowy!

Children's synthesizer from the USSR available on eBay

June 5, 2008 8:06pm

Wooden bikes

June 3, 2008 6:27am

You just walk the thing uphill, it's not much more hassle than walking without it and all the downhills are free rides. The joys of the scooter in a hilly
location.

Those friction brakes look a little lacking. I imagine they get ground down quite a bit. Beautifully made machnes though.

To-Do List temporary tatts

May 24, 2008 3:01pm

Hold on. Wouldn't you have to write your to do list in mirror writing?

Though I bet after you'd done that you'd remember what was on that list.

Agent 86

Aargh! I can't believe I missed that vital step:)

Band "shoots" video by sending Data Protection Act requests to CCTVs that caught them performing

May 12, 2008 2:03am

Much better idea.

They should have sued the CCTV owners for breach of copyright for making an unauthorised copy of the performance.

I'm sure it's a valid business model in this day and age.

Hilarious, subversive classic arcade-game remixes

March 23, 2008 4:37pm

Yes that site is very funny. However that Mockumentary one is just painful. Who reads that slowly? I found myself with time to grab a drink from the kitchen between paragraphs.

March 18, 2008 2:38am

Beat me there, those Legion of Rock Stars clips are hilarious. And they must have had so much fun making them.

Now these guys better hope they don't get sued by Gibson.

Eyeball stickers to place over eyelids

February 15, 2008 5:44pm

I believe these are from an old Chindōgu book. However I can't remember which one.

Beautiful high dynamic range photo from Japan

January 18, 2008 3:21pm

A lot of what you see around labelled HDR is actually just overuse of Photomatix's tone mapping on a single exposure. So you could probably could rig something up to do that with video.
