Some dinosaurs dug underground tunnels
November 2, 2007 5:03pm
Speculation(s) concerning dinosaurs has always run via a high octane of hogwash.
Some paleontologists have attempted to reconstruct entire dinosaurs on the strength of one found meta-tarsil or a couple of inner ear bones.
I suppose such speculations are what's kept the entire scientific community happy and occupied since the middle of the 1800s.
Dinosaurs burrowed?
Yeah, OK...whatever.

Sounds from Saturn
November 1, 2007 11:22pm
I've had these Saturn tracks playing in my iPod all day at work (after first converting to Apple Lossless) and the lasting impression I have is that they sound like some of Sun Ra's more atmospheric works (circa 1960-62). Also they have a bit of Paul Bley in them.
Still, the sounds are fantastic no matter how you slice them, and marvelous to think that the sounds are actually from outer space.
Excellent!

Documentary: Crazy Rulers of the World

During a recent visit to London this summer, a friend sat me down and made me watch a good portion of this wonderful film.
It truly opened my eyes to some of the very bad things that have occured in the name of military freedom...globally of course, as well as domestically.
Of course, nothing can beat Hitler's regime in terms of overall sinister depth (thank you Josef Mengele), however the CIA has done rather well (and bumbled their way into some tragic accidents) in their quest to perfect the ultimate "prisoner breaker" - remember after all that they succeeded in spreading LSD across the country!
highly recommended!

Hiroshima bomb pilot dies aged 92
November 1, 2007 10:53pm
These men were directly responsible for the deaths of tens of thousands of people and "they had no regrets"??!!
They flew the mission then opened the hatch and dropped the bomb...and they had "no regrets"??!!

Library's clever answer to network filtering
November 1, 2007 11:57am
I'm less interested in this "clever" answer to network filtering and much more interested in your MAGIC SHOW
Were you doing a magic show in the lbrary or nearby? Hopefully you're not doing any black magic, because I doubt if that's allowed in public buildings (especially in Nixonian San Clemente)
BTW - I've always thought that internet in public libraries is almost like having jacuzzis or full-on home entertainment systems in place...in other words, one step away from being a Chuck-E-Cheese franchise.
How much actual "research" is being done (in libraries) and how much personal email-checking (and general internet wasting of time) is being accomplished?
Public libraries these days are more like recreation centers or malls - very sad...
Thanks Boing Boing!

Nice to see that NASA's $20 BILLION annual budget is being put to good use.
The American people definitely need more avant-garde electroacoustic music - and it's good to know that NASA has filled that need!
War on Terror's war on chemistry sets
November 1, 2007 11:35am
Not sure where you got the notion that the chemistry set is dead.
There are plenty of chemistry sets out there, from a set distributed by the Smithsonian to a chemistry set made by Skilcraft.
If you want to make an anti-Homeland Security statement, why not simply make it? Pretending that chemistry sets are dead or dying is just silly.
Any changes made to chemistry sets can be blamed more on The Food and Drug Administration rather than on Homeland Security (who seem more intent on forcing us to take off our sneakers in airport screening lines)
thanks!
love Boing Boing TV - wow!
