New Ubuntu Linux release is easy, sexy

October 18, 2007 7:25am

Bless the Linux guys for keeping up the fight. I think they're nuts, but the kind of nuts that gets operating systems built and slowly more polished over time is fine with me. That's a good kind of nuts :)

I keep an Ubuntu virtual machine around for when I want to run the occasional Linux app (in my case, specifically WEP crackers with full packet injection support), and it has gotten a lot better. Ubuntu has brought a lot of focus to usability issues.

Radiohead's new downloadable album: DRM-Free!

It's too bad the digital downloads are such low quality. I won't pay for low bitrate downloads unless there is no alternative, and the box set is absurdly expensive. They really should have a CD as well that we can buy.

By the time they arrange a CD contract (early next year, I've heard), the album will be cold and they'll have lost a lot of sales. Then people will take it as a sign that digital downloads don't work.

One laptop per prostate massage

It's a services barter. She does other things... she says she's "very oral." $500+ is steep for one encounter, but I'm sure she's open to more than one session.

Flowchart: The Science of Gangsta Rap

Could have been done better. For instance, the lyric is "bitches ain't nothing but hoes and tricks"... why then does the Venn diagram for bitches contain a large area (the majority, in fact) which is neither hoes or tricks?

Boing Boing Gadgets: the latest posts

What is the point of these posts on the main BoingBoing blog? If someone is interested in reading all the latest posts on the Gadget blog, why wouldn't they just read that blog? A huge list like this of text links is tedious to read.
