If this turns out true and starts to spread, then I hope that they all use that seal so I can know to turn my metaphorical butt around while giving the "you're number one" salute. The cards take advantage of their customers every chance they get, the last thing consumers need is an arbitrary list to take away one more "right."
Digitized Post-It Notes for Alzheimer's Patients

QOZMIQ is exactly right. This would be useless for Alzheimer's sufferers, even in the early stages. Cute idea though.

Serious memory problems. That shouldn't be ignored.
I do feel better though...
Pro golfer hits balls at hawk until he kills it, then denies he tried to kill it
March 7, 2008 12:02pm
Man, his eyes are close together. Family palm tree?
I'm far from being a PETA member, but anyone that purposefully (he can claim otherwise, his actions speak for themselves) kills an endangered species should get some Biblical justice.
The ball would have to be bigger since he is bigger. How about 5 minutes in front of a baseball pitching machine set for fastballs, unable to move, and with nothing but a covering of feathers. It would be even better if the machine didn't start until a bird pecked some seeds placed on a starting mechanism. He'll probably live, and if he can still swing a club after that I think he won't try that again.
Plus, he's not a good golfer if he doesn't realize that you are supposed to aim for the little hole in the middle of the poison laced green. That's why they put the flag in the cup, for morons like him.

Antinous,
STINKYHORSEBUTT beat me to it in post #43. It's not a matter of ads, its a matter of consistency. I doubt that Jet magazine runs ads for the KKK. Think that example is extreme? The Klan is a tiny organization with little to no power other than a bad rep. Ver!zon is a huge company, taking your money, and giving away your privacy. The government may force them eventually, but we know there have been several corporations that have resisted heavily.
Besides, I don't think BoingBoing is in danger of shutting down. They are way up on the list for blog traffic, while running ads. Maybe they aren't making millions off the site, but none of the BB crew seem to be struggling much and I don't think that any of them would claim that BB hasn't helped their careers.
The matter is- don't post about a company that seems to be at odds with BB and the EFF ideals, and then run an ad.
I love BoingBoing, but let's "keep it real."

Verizon is the culprit it says. I'm glad I got to sit through a Verizon commercial on BBtv a few minutes ago. Very odd since they seem to be part of the corporate lap dogs that Boing Boing and the EFF are constantly complaining about and fighting. How about a commercial (or no commercial!) from a company that isn't helping big bro come in our "back door."

THE STEVE, you took the words right off my fingertips on both subjects. Electricity+heat holding box made of flammable materials. Probably nothing will happen, but why take the chance?
TAKUAN,
I shall elucidate as well my dear Boinger. Search for vampire power, which is the buzz word for electricity wasted on the growing number of gadgets that suck power when they are supposedly asleep in their coffins but instead are running a clock, on standby, or whatever. I've read that most people pay more in electricity for the microwave's clock than microwaving food. I'm not sure I believe that, but the clock does run 24/7 (very small but constant trickle of power) and we only use the microwave once or twice a day at most and never for more than 5 minutes or so. When the energy crash hits, and the price of power is out of control, then people will really start worrying about vampire power.
Video: Plastic Knuckledusters vs. Fruit and Vegetables

Plastic knucks have been around for at least a decade, maybe a lot longer. Have we fallen during this time? Has the world ended? Chicken Little societies running around, creating fears, stirring up the whole barnyard.
All this segment did is advertise for the product, or at least the idea of non-metallic knucks. A few people probably got the idea to make their own and sell them from this.

Privacy urinals
February 20, 2008 1:30pm
Having been ogled by a pedophile while at the urinal as a little boy (7?), I'm all in favor of privacy. I split as soon as the perv started trying to talk to me.
BTW-To you that seem to miss the purpose of a public toilet...
Don't talk to me while I'm trying to pee.
If there are a bunch of empty urinals, don't take the one next to me.
If you are standing in line behind me, drunkenly trying to rush me (concerts, sports), I will stand there as long as possible.

The best site to buy Fenix lights from is called The Fenix Store https://www.fenix-store.com/ The owner, 4sevens on flashlight forums, is a great guy and has great customer service. I've been carrying a Fenix since their first (second really) model the L1P. People are blown away by my tiny P1, which is a dinosaur since it is over a year old. It uses 1 123 Lithium cell and a 3W Luxeon emitter.
