Commented on Talking to bureaucracies considered as a corporate fitness factor
This makes a great deal of sense to me, as an owner of a small business that was 'burned' in just this way: Agree with large, corporate client what's expected and deliver it. Cool. Within budget (just), great product. Everyone...

Commented on RIP, Philip Jose Farmer
I've blogged my own eulogy of sorts here: http://www.kennypark.co.uk/blog/?p=204 He changed the way I saw literature, and I will miss him....

Commented on Britain's "Great Firewall" set to restrict access to Wikipedia
Let's name and shame the ISPs. So far I've gathered that Demon, Virgin and 02 (at least via iPhone). Who are the other three? I'm with BT Total Broadband, sharing my connection as BTFon, and I can access the Scorpion...

Commented on Open Rights Group call for photos on Britain's march into the surveillance society
The BBC building near my home is rife with signs warning you that you're being filmed. Appropriate, I suppose. I'll get pictures of them (and the rest) when I walk the dog today. All best to the ORG and No2ID....

Commented on Britain will make foreigners carry RFID identity cards and will put us in a huge, Orwellian database: the rest of Britain will be next
@TAKUAN Brilliant! I hadn't seen that one before (or don't remember seeing it). "The Sprouts" does it for me. It occurs to me that most of the Pythons fled the UK too, though probably not because of ID cards....

Commented on Britain will make foreigners carry RFID identity cards and will put us in a huge, Orwellian database: the rest of Britain will be next
We stay were we are and use the web to unite and focus loyalty to the Nation of Humans. People can endure incredible suffering if they feel they serve a higher purpose. - TAKUAN #109 Are you sure we can't...

Commented on Britain will make foreigners carry RFID identity cards and will put us in a huge, Orwellian database: the rest of Britain will be next
Coming late to this discussion, I read with interest all the terrific points. Like a fair number of the commentators, I am a Scot, and while I was always going to vote for independence if the SNP get their referendum...

Commented on Wal*Mart shutting down DRM server, nuking your music collection -- only people who pay for music risk losing it to DRM shenanigans
#13 & #24, here here. In Scotland our closest link to Wal-Mart is the supermarket chain, ASDA, which they own, but I can still appreciate the stinkiness of DRM. Getting rid of it is a good move on their part,...

Commented on Amazon reviewers clobber Spore DRM
#40, Thanks for the clarification, that's what I wanted: clear arguments against DRM. I'm 100% against it and just want its opposition to be strong. (I've never claimed my blog was popular, btw. For the record it's read by family...

Commented on Amazon reviewers clobber Spore DRM
As someone who's all for the abolition of DRM, it struck me that the Amazon reviews were coming across as slightly hysterical. Not being very technical, I decided to ask a friend who was if the whole thing was a...
