Commented on Boing Boing: The World's Greatest Neurozine!
Honestly, I don't find the new design better or worse than before. Looks fine to me. Then again, my criteria begins and ends with, "Can I read this shit?" If the answer is yes, then I'm good....

Commented on IT restrictions hurt productivity
I work at a medical school where there are no blocks on the computers. Faculty/Staff have full admin rights (although we do require a separate admin account for troubleshooting use). The only thing that isn't negotiable is our enterprise virus...

Commented on Infinite Typewriters: Goats webcomic collection is transcendantly silly without being forced
I've been reading Goats for years and while always funny, Mr. Rosenberg really shifted into high gear with the weird sci-fi craziness that Mr. Doctorow is describing above--which is also what is contained in the new book. Highly recommended....

My favorite bit about the tuffle over the GSL and OGL? The only thing that the OGL did was add a license to something that you already could legally do. The OGL license allowed someone to use the game system...

Commented on Payday Loan scumbags prey on the elderly, illiterate, poor
Or instead of imposing limits on payday lenders, how about just make them illegal? Because, you know, if I went out and started lending money to people and charging them super high interest to the point where they can't pay,...

Commented on Gloom: gothy card-game challenges your ability to create misery
Gloom is indeed a great game. And the cards are very nice looking, both from the art and the fact that they're made from clear plastic because the game requires you to overlay them during play. aaron...

Commented on Japanese ghost story from 1911: Night Fishing
If you like this, might I suggest Kwiadan from Timfire Publishing. It's a collection of Edo-era scary stories translated by Lafcadio Hearn and collected into a really sexy book. (Also, if you're of the geeky role-playing persuasion, Timothy Kleinert also...
